Best Family Halloween Celebration

We had the the Best Family Halloween Celebration yet! Who would think we would with all that is going on in the world today? COVID, UNREST, POLITICAL CRAZINESS, You name it 2020 has had it! So to have had this amazing day with my family and neighbors was like a dream come true!

It all started with a Halloween breakfast over at our youngest daughters house. Punched up pancakes made with Krustez pancake mix but with orange juice, milk, vanilla and eggs. Topped with whipped cream is a child’s dream! Emily gave the kids plastic orange colored goblets filled with some Halloween candy!

Halloween Family Costumes

After we all went home to eat some lunch all of us got into our costumes! Madeline and Peter’s family were dressed up as Characters from the movie Hook!

Family costumes from Movie Hook

They nailed it! Well all but one participated…the youngest decided he wanted to be Harry Potter 🙂 Just look at Hook and Smee! They got everything at a thrift store! We love Thrift store shopping…remember my thrift store table and chairs that I found?

Peter pan, Tinkerbell and Ruffio!! Louis’s costume was perfection!

Emily and her family were Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Did I mention that Emily is pregnant with her second? We are soooo excited for another grandbaby! We find out what she is having next week!

Mini and Mickey Mouse

Mike and I dressed up as Jack Frost and Snow Queen! I sprayed Mike’s hair with white hair spray and we glued sparkles onto our eyebrows.

Halloween Backyard Carnival Games

Next we headed to Madeline’s home to play carnival games! Madeline always does an amazing job of creating fun for her kids! Remember our 4th of July Minute to Win it Games? For this leaf bowling game, the kids helped their mom and dad create bowling lanes out of leaves and we pumpkin bowled! Even the youngest grandkid got to enjoy in all this Best Halloween Family Celebrations!

Next game during our Best Family Halloween Celebration we had the traditional game of eating donuts off a string! haha My son in law and hubby really got into it and were pushing each other out of the way! Can you say competitive?

Then the kids were able to do bobbing for apples! We adults decided not to join in that fun haha but the kids had a blast!

Halloween Creepy Touch and Feel Game

For the last game Madeline set up a creepy touch and feel game. Bowls of things like wet noodles, squished grapes, sunflower seeds were covered with a blanket and then we had to put our hand in each bowl and try to guess what the real thing was. Bowls were labeled with brains, guts, eyeballs, witch finger nails! It was gross but totally fun! Years ago I did a 18th Halloween birthday party for Emily and we did a Fear Factor eating game and it was soo gross!

Touch and Feel Halloween game

Later that evening everyone came over and we had a bewitching Halloween Dinner in our dining room. Mike and I decked it out with witch hats hanging over my sideboard. A skull banner mixed with orange black and cream paper streamers hung over the chalkboard. I still had Happy Holidays written on the chalkboard from when I did a photo shoot of my Coastal Christmas Wreath…the life of a blogger!

For my tablescape I started with black paper running down the center of the table. I cut each end in a “V” shape to make it look like a real runner.

I added thrift store candelabra’s and black faux roses sprinkled around. For the centerpiece I placed my Buffalo checked painted pumpkin on a cake stand and added black faux flowers all around it. In the chandelier I hung these black hairy spiders that have battery operated purple eyes that light up.

Halloween Place Setting

For the place settings I used my black and white polka dotted melamine plates mixed with a few orange and black halloween plates. I used orange and white patterned napkins and black napkins with orange and gold bauble napkin rings. Gold goblets and gold flatware added the sparkle.

Placesetting with witch finger marshmallow

In the little black and white striped paper cups I put a witch finger marshmallow for each grandkid. I found them at a boutique. I was going to serve hot chocolate but it wasn’t a very cold night so I didn’t serve any.

Halloween Family Trick or Treating

Halloween COVID ways to hand out candy

After dinner was over we went trick or treating as a family to a couple streets in the neighborhood and it was so much fun! So many people were out! Lots of neighbors used long tubes to give out the candy. One neighbor made a board with clothespins to hang the candy on!

This was truly the Best Family Halloween Celebration Ever!
