One of my favorite things to do when entertaining is create a beautiful outdoor tablescape that feels welcoming but still simple and effortless.

Simple white plates are my go-to for entertaining. They act like a blank canvas and allow colorful foods like salads, grilled vegetables, and fresh fruit to really shine.
I love dining outdoors during fall especially for Thanksgiving like I did here.

White dinnerware also makes it easy to mix and match different napkins and table linens.
3. Fresh Branches from the Yard
Some of my favorite centerpieces are completely free. I simply clip branches or greenery from trees in our yard and place them in a vase.
The natural look feels organic and relaxed—perfect for outdoor dining.

Outdoor tables look especially beautiful when these natural elements are layered together. I found this yellow an white striped blanket a few years ago and knew it would work for a tablecloth. Mixed with amber colored goblets, fun leaf plates and cuttings from the yard created lots of visual interest.

A paper neutral table runner or tablecloth provides a calming base for your tablescape. It allows colorful dishes and fresh foods to stand out. This is one of my best secrets! Using green paint paper from the hardware store as a table runner!
You can buy a big roll for $5 and it will last a long time. It comes in natural brown color too.

11. Vintage Dishes
Mixing in vintage plates, goblets or serving dishes adds charm and personality to your outdoor table. It’s a fun way to incorporate pieces you may already have collected over the years. I have loved using my grandmothers cut glass colorful goblets for a beautiful tablescape. I mean why have vintage pieces if you are not going to use them?

12. Lantern Light
Lanterns create a cozy glow when the sun starts to set. I love placing a few lanterns down the center of the table for evening gatherings. Even though I styled this inside I would totally use this lantern outdoors when creating a beachy tablescape.
13. Seasonal Fruit Displays for Outdoor Tablescape Ideas
Fresh fruit like lemons, peaches, or berries can double as both décor and food. Placing them in bowls or baskets adds natural color to your tablescape. Who could resist enjoying fruit layered in a 2-tier stand like this?

Wooden boards are perfect for serving bread, cheese, or appetizers. They also add warmth and texture to the table. Winter is a fun time to dine outside too!
I used this really cool portable wooden wine tray for this snowy romantic dinner for two.

Sometimes you can create a outdoor tablescape centerpiece out of unique things like pennies! I created a table runner out of pennies just by laying them down in a fun pattern. Then to bring in more green color I added in faux green plants, candlesticks and small votive candles from around my house.

The best part of eating outdoors is when the sun goes down and you have lots of candlelight. It is so relaxing looking at the candles flickering and sets such a beautiful mood.
