Black Blazer Outfits Over 50: 3 Stylish & Easy Ways to Wear It

If there’s one piece every woman over 50 needs in her wardrobe, it’s a classic black blazer! I have styled this black blazer in 3 different outfits. I recently picked up this H&M double-breasted black blazer, and let me tell you—it’s become a go-to for effortlessly stylish outfits. The longer length, structured shape, and tailored fit make it a perfect layering piece for every season.

Whether you’re dressing up for an event, keeping it casual for a day out, or looking for a polished yet comfortable travel outfit, a black blazer elevates any look. If you don’t have one yet—trust me, you’re missing out! Let’s dive into three stylish ways to wear a black blazer, perfect for women over 50 who love fashion but prioritize comfort.

Look 1: Elevated & Elegant

How I Styled It:

Cream Ruffle-Neck Blouse – The feminine details add a soft, elegant touch to the structured blazer. (Mine is from Banana Republic Outlet sold out, but any flowy blouse works!) You can see how I styled it here with girlfriend jeans and here with my red plaid pants.

✔ H&M Jeggings with a Gold Belt – A well-fitted pair of black jeggings keeps the look streamlined, while a belt adds an extra polished touch.

✔ Pointed-Toe Kitten HeelsThese Anne Klein shoes from DSW are not only stunning but also incredibly comfortable—perfect for elongating your legs without sacrificing comfort.

The black blazer is double breasted and a bit longer. I really like this style and I keep the jacket open.

Pointy toe kitten heeled shoes.

Wearing a feminine pointy toe low heel also adds to the dressiness of the outfit. OH my gosh I have had sooo many compliments on these cute shoes! They not only look amazing but are really comfortable on my feet.

💡 Style Tip: A pointed-toe shoe instantly makes your legs look longer and adds sophistication to any outfit

These are Ann Klein and I got these adorable shoes at DSW

Look 2: Chic & Casual Black Blazer Outfits Over 50 with Sneakers

If you want to make your blazer everyday wearable, swap out the blouse for a casual striped top and add sneakers!

How I Styled It:

Classic Striped Long-Sleeve Tee – A timeless essential that adds a Parisian-inspired touch

White Adidas Sneakers – Perfect for running errands or grabbing lunch with friends while keeping the look youthful and fresh.

A Lightweight Scarf & Gold Belt – The belt keeps the outfit polished, while a soft scarf adds a little flair.

💡 Style Tip: If you’re petite or short-waisted, wearing your blazer open helps create a longer, leaner silhouette!

Look 3: Weekend Ready with Girlfriend Jeans

For an effortless, travel-friendly outfit, I swapped out the jeggings for relaxed-fit girlfriend jeans and added a few fun accessories.

How I style it:

Same Striped Tee for Versatility – No need to overcomplicate it—this tee works across multiple outfits!

Girlfriend Jeans – A relaxed, slightly tapered denim fit gives a modern yet comfortable feel.

My sunglasses are so much fun to wear. I bought them at Jcrew factory. They are on sale for $19.50 plus another 15% off with CODE EXTRAS.

Straw Hat & Crossbody Bag – These add a fresh, stylish touch, especially for spring and summer travel.
Leather Sneakers – I love these because they are super comfy yet stylish. While mine are sold out, I linked similar options below.

💡 Style Tip: For an extra touch of sophistication, tie a soft scarf around your neck—it instantly elevates a casual look!

Leather sneakers

To finish off this black blazer casual outfit I switched out the white sneakers with my leather sneakers.

I cannot even express how much I love the look and feel of these leather sneakers. I cannot find a link for them anywhere but down below under shop I found some similar ones.

Why This Black Blazer is Perfect for Travel

This H&M double-breasted blazer is an absolute essential for travel, especially in Italy or any stylish city.

This classic double breasted black blazer is perfect for traveling in Italy because it does not wrinkle! It is light weight so it is perfect for layering or just worn over a t-shirt.

Wrinkle-resistant fabric – No ironing required!
Lightweight for layering – Works year-round.
Pairs perfectly with sneakers, loafers, or heels – One blazer, endless looks.

Trying to find a stylish yet comfortable sneaker is tough! I want a lot out of these… comfort is an absolute must, stylish and fun! I have been wearing them a ton while here in Italy!

When traveling, I love pairing it with comfortable yet fashionable leather sneakers, tortoiseshell sunglasses, and a chic crossbody bag—ready to explore the streets of Florence, Rome, or Paris in style

Final Thoughts: A Black Blazer is Ageless & Timeless

Whether you’re dressing up or keeping it casual, a well-fitted black blazer is the ultimate wardrobe essential for women over 50. It’s a classic, flattering, and incredibly versatile piece that makes getting dressed effortless.

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!
