Easy & Charming Red, White & Blue Tablescape

Pulling together a festive table for summer holidays is one of my favorite things, and this red, white, and blue tablescape just makes my heart happy! Whether you’re celebrating Memorial Day, the 4th of July, or just gathering family for a summer BBQ, this look is cheerful, simple, and full of charm.

A Striped Fabric Runner to Anchor the Table

I started by laying down a blue and white striped fabric as a runner—classic and crisp! It instantly created that All-American summer vibe and gave me a great foundation to build on.

A Garden-Gathered Centerpiece That Pops

Next came the centerpiece, and oh, it makes me smile! I snipped snowball flowers straight from the garden and arranged them in a tall white pitcher. To give it a little more presence, I placed the pitcher on a red cake stand. And of course, I tucked in a small American flag to make it festive and fun!

Layered Paper Plates (Yes, Paper!)

Each place setting features a stack of ruffled-edge paper plates—red on the bottom, a navy and white striped one in the middle, a deep navy on top, and finally a white ruffled bowl. I love the look of all those layers together! They feel fancy but are a breeze to clean up.

Woven Placemats & Gingham Flatware

Underneath it all, I used my go-to woven placemats. I use these year-round because they’re so versatile! The flatware is my beloved red gingham-handled set from Pottery Barn that I bought ages ago. I wish they’d bring it back—I know so many of you would grab it in a heartbeat. I used them here in a throwback red white and blue tablescape.

If you like fun red white and blue table decor like this, you might enjoy these placemats featured in Leslie’s patriotic tablescape over at My 100 Year Old Home. She always shares such creative ideas for summer entertaining!

Denim Pocket Sparkler Favors

Here’s where the fun really comes in: each guest gets a little sparkler favor tucked into a denim pocket I made from old jeans! I just cut out the back pockets, folded them in half, and hot glued the bottom and side to make a mini pouch. Then I slipped in a box of sparklers and tied a red ribbon around i and added a small American flag. It’s such a cute, unexpected touch and guests love it!

I have used these denim pocket favors multiple times here and here.

I hope this inspired you to try something fun for any of your summer gatherings.

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!
