Halloween paper treat cones party favors are so fun to make! These started out as dollar store party hats!
I am excited to show you how I made them!
I wanted to make some cute little Halloween party favors for my family Halloween party we just had. Specifically Halloween paper treat cones that would hold candies for everyone.
We ran over to the dollar tree to see what we could find. They sell 8 small party hats in a sleeve. 4 silver and 4 multicolored.
Not really very Halloweenish but I knew I could turn them into something fun.
I gathered up a few supples like pom poms, crepe paper and sparkly stickers I had in my craft stash.
First I added black polka dots to the silver paper hats with a permanent marker.
That alone spiced up the plain silver birthday party hats.
To create a ruffle at the edge of the party hats, I ran three colors of crepe paper off center through my sewing machine on a long stitch to gather the paper to create a ruffle.
Tip- Pull a little on the end of the crepe paper so it creates tighter ruffle.
It looked so cool!
Then I hot glued them to the edge of each party hat.
Tip- if some of the ruffle comes undone, just gather the crepe paper by hand and slide the paper into the hot glue to continue to create the ruffle look.
They turned out so adorable!
At the bottom of each hat we hot glued an orange or purple pompom.
These colorful pom poms come in package also from dollar tree.
For the handles, we popped off the elastic band and added colorful twisted pipe cleaners from Dollar Tree with some hot glue.
Using pieces of plastic garbage sacks we stuffed the hats and then added some shredded purple or orange paper from Dollar Tree.
For the treats we put in some Halloween candy, wax lips, pixie sticks, gummy bones, brains and teeth candies and a plastic spider ring.
For my vegan daughter we filled hers with nuts, crackers and popcorn.
They looked so adorable sitting atop of their Halloween paper dinner plates!
