We have been in our Lake Kottage house for almost 10 years now! It is the longest we have ever lived in one place. Living here has been a dream. We either walk or ride our bikes around the lake almost every day. This Lake Kottage life feels like we are on vacation almost every day. I hope you will enjoy Karins Kottage home tour.
Start here at the front of our house on our porch. This is the place where we hang out with our family and friends in spring, summer and fall. Winter it just looks magical with snow and Christmas decorations.
This room has undergone many changes in the last 11 years. First it was blue with thrift store furniture! Then we added shiplap and painted it white. After that we enlarged the dining table by adding a planked top over the top of this table that has been in my family for many years.
Our family room has driven me crazy! I have moved the furniture around a million times, changed the colors of the walls, rugs and pillows. Added shiplap above the fireplace and painted the red brick fireplace. See all the before and afters!
This is one of my favorite rooms in the house! It is light and bright. We added shiplap to one of the walls in this room and painted it all white. We have had many family dinner and fun games played around this thrift store table and chairs that my hubby painted!
My kitchen may not be the biggest but it functions perfectly! I have cooked so many meals for large crowds in here over the last 11 years! I have even held cooking classes for kids. At one point I had 60 students! (not all at the same time mind you)
Painting the dark cabinet in this bathroom with chalk paint was the best thing we ever did! Adding in some new light covers above the mirror and and a new ceiling light with wooden beads created such a fun beachy vibe in here.
Having a craft room where I can create fun crafts is something I had always dreamed of. My cute hubby built the shelf above and the wrapping paper holder as well as the shelves that hold mason jars. It is a joy to walk in here and sew or craft.
Painting the basement white and adding shiplap to the back and side walls made a huge difference in here. Navy and white with a touch of red makes for a perfect lake cottage look.
My precious husband built this little mud room area for me. He created it by putting bead board at the back and adding a shelf with cubbies at the top. Hooks for hanging bags and coats and bench seat. Under the bench seat are three more cubby areas for shoes. I found an antique light and hung it above.
