Patriotic Karin’s Kottage linky party

May is the beginning of red white and blue patriotic holidays! Memorial Day is a time to think about all those who have died in the service of our country.

Our beautiful country and its freedoms mean so much to me. I love looking at our red white and blue American flag and feel so blessed to to live the life I do.

Patriotic red white and blue Linky party highlights

This week I am highlighting some red white and blue decorations and a cute cherry pie cookie recipe! What’s more American than cherry pie? How fun to spin the idea on a cookie!

Cincy Shopper uses a refrigerated pice crust and cherry pie filling to make these “cookies”. I am a big fan of this idea! Chopping cherry pie filling into small pieces to spread over pie dough circles.

Hunny I’m home has created this darling patriotic red white and blue centerpiece using some great dollar store finds! Even the wooden tray came from the dollar store  and she painted it red. Hobby Lobby has the cute gingham stars that just make this complete.

Oh hello you cute red fire engine! WM Designs has some fabulous red white and blue patriotic decor ideas. You will love all her inspiring ideas. Make sure to pop over and start making a list of ideas for your next party.

Our tiny nest is sharing how to create this easy red white and blue basket for your front door! Her particular basket is sold out but she has links to some other similar baskets on her blog.

Karins Kottage Happenings

Our granddaughter, Harper just recently turned 5 and celebrated by having a Little Mermaid themed birthday party.

It was really pretty easy to make and Harper loved it!

If you want a few more red white and blue patriotic ideas here are some of my past favorites-

DIY Patriotic fan tutorial made from pieces of scrapbook paper. This can be used as a decoration by placing it in a plant or a vase of flowers for a centerpiece.

Red white and blue ribbon wands are so much fun for little kids to wave around during parades or block parties.

This dessert is perfect for potluck gatherings and is super easy to make. Trust me this is always a hit and there will not one bite left!

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!
