Master bedroom chalk painted furniture makeover- Annie Sloan Paris Grey

SOOOO excited to share my moms Master bedroom chalk painted Furniture makeover using Annie Sloans Paris Gray paint with all of you.
It took most of day to paint all these pieces but we are sold on the chalk paint!
No sanding no priming just start painting!
We worked our little buns off to create this new soothing new space for my cute mom and loved every minute of it!

Master Bedroom furniture before we chalk painted

Here is the before- the room is painted a soft lavender so we left the walls but we removed the heavy toile curtains that blocked a lot of light and kept the white sheers.
The furniture is kind of dated so my mom decided to paint most of it with Annie Sloan’s Paris grey chalk paint.
We also bought some fresh new all white bedding which made all the difference, plus a few new accessories to add a little sparkle.

Chalk painting the headboard

We removed the headboard and painted it with Annie Sloan’s Paris Grey and HELLO it takes on a whole new look!
Next up was the dresser on the other side of the room.

Chalk painted dresser

Seriously look at the before pictures below, it always blows my mind when we paint a piece of furniture and how stunning it turns out!
We left the wrought iron detailing black on the dresser to flow with the handles but we painted out all the wrought iron on the headboard.
I like it both ways.
Can you even take it?! Just look at the difference!
Here is my cute mom and daughter working on yet another piece.
This time we used  Annie Sloan’s Old White
This is the before.
A beautiful French looking piece that mom bought 40 years ago from a friend.
This piece has had some smoke damage from a fire that it was in.
It still looked very pretty but mom wanted a lighter look.
We realized after we painted it…the old oils and smoke damage started to come through a bit but it made it have a unique patina.
It turned out a little creamier than mom wanted it but I think it looks gorgeous!
We added some fabric behind the doors to peek through the little railings.
Just by stapling the fabric to the inside of the door created a pretty look.
We bought the white comforter set from Target..it is a bit wrinkled here..sorry I was not about to iron or steam it….. it is just beautiful.
I found the grey pillow, the French writing pillow and the textured white pillow from Home Goods as well and the scrumptious soft grey throw.
Love the texture on the comforter.
Added in some fun silver accents like this vase and the antler ring holder
You can find the tutorial for the chalk painted dresser below.

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!

  • Oh, it is so peaceful. What a beautiful room, and what a lucky mom. Love the color you painted the furniture and the bedding is so pretty. Well done. laurie

  • That is such a pretty gray, and makes the headboard curves stand out. Also nice touches with the dark gray pillow and that "scrumptious" throw. Good move to let in more natural light so that the grays are not depressing.

  • The room turned out beautifully. The new paint color really made the pretty lines of the furniture stand out more. :)
