As a child I lived in New Jersey and New York for about 3 or 4 years. My memories of our family driving down tree lined streets with bold fall colors are just the best! Raking up huge piles of leaves with my brother and jumping in them was so fun! To this day I still have the “smell” memory of those leaves! So I ask you what says fall more than red and orange leaves? When I saw these leaf plates at Walmart many years ago I had to have them! Today I am sharing my Leafy Fall Tablescape that I put together.

How to get the Leafy fall tablescape layered look

I wanted a very bold fall look with layers of orangey red and black and white. The look of layering different plates is like putting together a fabulous outfit with the purse, shoes and jewelry. For this particular fall leafy tablecape I decided to use two different black and white dishes along with the leafy plate and a white dinner plate.

The strong color combo just makes the orange leafy plate pop! To bring in texture I used my woven bamboo placemats. Bright bold colors and texture just work so perfectly for fall. It makes me think of a pumpkin farm with all the bright colored pumpkins, hay bales, apples and of course fall leaves.

Hand Painted Cloth Napkins

I found these gorgeous hand painted pumpkin napkins in Park city at a little shop. They are way more than I would normally pay but I could not resist. They are spectacular! I would love a tablecloth to match. Mixing all kinds of different textures like these grapevine pumpkins, gold bubble glass goblets, real branches of fall leave and cream colored pumpkins just makes my heart happy.

Add in Different Textures to create fall leafy tablescape

Mixing all kinds of different textures like these grapevine pumpkins, gold bubble glass goblets, real branches of fall leaves and cream colored pumpkins just makes my heart happy.

You know I love to bring in a little shimmer to my Tablescapes and these gold and orange bauble napkin rings from Pier One are just perfect! It is so sad that they are going out of business! 🙁

The combination of the all these pieces work so beautifully together.

Where to Place the Napkin

Which do you prefer? The napkin off of the layered plates and placed above the plates or the napkin placed above the placesetting?

Or maybe placed to the side of the place setting? I think I love it on the plate because it looks like a gift that you are about to open. The gift will be a fabulous dinner and dessert!

Pumpkins on the Table

White pumpkins allow you to use lots of different colors on your table. I do love the peachy colored pumpkins too! Remember this fall tablescape where I used peach black and white to create a fun Halloween tablescape? Or this tablescape where I also peach pumpkins and purple goblets for a beautiful fall tablescape.

I really hope this inspires you to try and use different patterned plates and layering them. Using different textures and unique items to create your own Fall leafy tablescape this season! One of my favorite bloggers is Yvonne over at Stone Gable and she has inspired me to create beautiful fall Tablescapes.

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!

  • This is the cutest tablescape Karin! I am especially loving your hand painted napkins! Thank you for sharing with Charming Homes and Gardens!

  • I find all the colors of fall really energize my tablescapes and decor. Have to admit, though, that I'm not yet ready for fall. Especially since we won't see it until October.
