Make Your Own White Cake Stand

I was recently invited to a fun gift exchange party where we each made 10 gifts to give away to one another…kind of like a cookie exchange but less calories 😉 LOL
I decided to make these little White cake stands!

Items Needed

*White fluted pie dish

*White Candle stick

*E6000 Glue

*Sandpaper

How to make the Cake Stand

I knew I was going to be short on time because the party was right after Thanksgiving so I had to make something simple but nice. I looked in my favorite shopping places… Tai Pan Trading and Ikea. I found the scalloped edge tart pan (at a shop that no longer exists 🙂 Tai Pan for less than $3.00 each!
The bottom is a candle stick from Ikea for less than $5.00 each.
I used this very strong, powerful, highly odor-iffic smelling glue that worked perfectly!! (Make sure you do this outside)  I sanded the edges of the candlesticks to rough up the paint finish so that the bond would be really strong.
You simply attach them and let dry overnight.
I love the simplicity of this and yet the elegance of it. I think the gals at the gift exchange loved getting these. Fun and easy and useful gift don’t you think? Maybe your looking for a larger cake plate, maybe you remember another cake plate that I made out of wood?
You could serve cookies on your pedestal cake plate at your next cookie exchange to elevate them to the next level or use it as your centerpiece like I did here in my simple Fall Tablescape using marigolds
Hope you are all enjoying your holidays so far.

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!
