RED Valentine’s Day Tablescape Idea

Red Valentine’s Day Tablescape
For those of you that know me…I love me some red!
I came up with this tablescape by gathering things from around the house that would work with this color scheme.
I started with the striped red white and tan fabric in the center all crumbled up. Added the large white lantern (Ikea $10.00 years ago) and then the brown bamboo placemats .25 each at Garden Ridge. I used some of my dinner plates I bought from Tai Pain awhile back for $2.00 each and added the floral salad plate (free from my mom who got them from a used restaurant supply place), I used the bright red cloth napkins with one of my white napkin rings (My Etsy Store), I love how the red napkin really stands out when placed over the entire placesetting. I added a small chocolate heart candy to the mix.
This cake stand is actually a Christmas cake stand and has Christmas trees in the center but who’s to know when you cover it with a white doiley and my cute red and white striped bowlies each with a chocolate heart in it. (I would fill it with some creme brulee if I stopped playing around with dishes and cooked ha ha). I pulled the little birdies from off the shelf in the kitchen, the little green ivy from the bathroom and the little silver vase with white flowers from my daughters bedroom.

I love to set a pretty table with things from around the house.

Take a tour of your own home and pull things from here and there to create a tablescape without spending any money!
I really want to come up with a black and white Valentine tablescape with just a touch of red.
mmmm what could I use…I must go shopping in my house now.

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!

  • Red and white tables are so nice. A very creative way to use your cake plate again!! Your plates are beautiful...all of them!

  • The red with tan and brown color scheme is such a pretty one! I like the look you've put together a lot. I have that same cake stand, and I also use it for Valentine's decor -- the doily is a great idea!

  • Love your table. The cake stand is wonderful! I love the way the little birds are snuggled in the fabric!

  • This is such a pretty red and white gathering on your table -- looks like a wonderful Valentine's treat.

  • I LOVE red and white together...this is the a wonderful Valentine tabelscape! :-)

  • So very very cute! I like how you've put the red and white with the brown place mats, to mimic the brown of the chocolate candies! Wonderful tablescape!

  • This is adorable and you are SO clever to use things you already have on hand...anyone that has the budget can buy lots of stuff but it takes true creativity to use what you have and come up with something like this!
