When you enter Karins Kottage to your left is the formal dining room. The model home actually used it as a formal living room but we would never use this space like that. We have lots of family living close by and have big Sunday dinners. I needed a big dining room area. We recently added a planked top to this old dining room table. This allowed for more guests to sit at the table. It’s crazy to remember how Karins Kottage dining room looked when it was painted blue.
Recently Karins Kottage dining room had a makeover! We added shiplap and painted the room a soft white color. We changed out the chandelier, added a planked wooden top to the old table and bought a new very long side board to keep lots of dishes in.
When we first move into Karins Kottage we had the dining room painted a pretty blue to represent the lake feel. I used many thrift store finds to create a fun and colorful room.
Here at Karins Kottage during the fall is super busy around here! The college kids are back in school and love to come over for Sunday dinner as well as having my own family here on Sundays. This dining room gets used a lot!
This tradition of decorating the dining room in bright colors to look like something from the sugar plum fairy has been going on for about 8 years now and I love every moment of it!
I love the light bright colors of spring and I bring it into my dining room through linens. colorful goblets also help to bring in some color too.
