Fall Tablescape mixing and matching

Sunday dinners are big around my house these days and last nights birthday dinner for my daughter Emily was no different. Emily told me she wanted to invite some friends for dinner so I said sure….well…if you invite them….they will come! Eleven of them to be exact plus Emily, myself and my hubby makes 14 so we squished em’all in and had a blast!
Mix and match orange gold and green to create fall tablescape
These are amazing young adults ages 20 to 28 all of them single and full of life! Our tradition of going around the table and sharing what touched us at church or during the week is always so uplifting!

Fall tablescape mixing and matching–

I don’t have more than a set of 8 of anything so I have to mix and match to make it work for any group larger than 8. I used gold chargers to bring in one matching element.
TIP– Use white dinner plates they go with everything! I mixed them with my white plates that have black writing on them (TJMax years ago),
TIP– Buy colored goblets that compliment each other. I have had these gold goblets for years now and recently bought the green ones on summer clearance from Pier 1. The colors work great together. Now I want some pink or red ones!
TIP- Stock up on white napkins…yeah they go with everything and are usually cheaper than patterned napkins. I used some orange patterned napkins with white napkins that work well with my fall color scheme.

Napkin Ring Tip-

Purchase napkin rings in colors that can be used throughout the year. I bought these on summer clearance from Pier 1. They didn’t have enough of one kind so I bought similar ones and I mix and match these too!

Centerpiece tip–

Keep centerpieces low and skinny so you will have room for serveware. My white wooden box centerpiece (mom and stepdad made me) is filled with a mix of faux and real mini pumpkins, faux fall leaves and white candles all set upon a burlap runner.

It all came together even with a last minute guest that made our numbers come up to 14… We just smooshed everyone in and even had a few left overs!
Emily loved it!

I love fall and I have created many fall tablescapes that you can find here and here and here

What a great idea. I always feel the need for 8, 10 or 12 of everything. I will think about this differently in the future. So pretty too.

You have mixed and matched this beautifully. I especially like the 2 colors of glassware.

Mixing and matching always works for me, and because it is understated I'm betting the young people were very comfortable at this table. I certainly would have been.

This is a beautiful table for some beautiful people. Your mix and match turned out so well, and I LOVE that centerpiece. What a great idea to go around the table and tell about your church experience. This looks like a wonderful party. laurie

Your table doesn't look mixed and matched at all Karin! You have used color and theme to unify everything and it looks fabulous! Very fun, especially your table full of smiling faces, your life is full 🙂

Fabby I love to be creative… And I think I do better when I'm forced to come up with something on the spur of the moment but I find if I have basics like white plates and napkins then mixing and matching is pretty easy. Thanks for your comments
