When Halloween comes around I can’t wait to decorate in fun ways! Today I am sharing my bewitching Halloween black and white tablescape complete with hanging witch hats! You will love all the fun tid bits that my daughter and sister came up with for this Halloween witch tablescape. Oh and make sure to check out the Halloween tablescape blog hop at the bottom of my post. Tons of ideas!
If you have followed me over the years you know I love to set a Halloween table. Last year I did an orange and black family Halloween table. I made tulle garlands, made a Jack Skellington hanging paper lantern, fun party favors out of dollar store party hats and more! Click on any of these links to see the details.
How to set a bewitching tablescape
I started setting this Halloween bewitching tablescape with a black and white silverware paper runner. I have had this paper for years now and I just love it. It comes on a roll and really sets the tone for the look I was going for. Thanks heavens for my daughter and sister because my back has gone out and they did all the work!
Next we used my plastic chargers but we flipped them upside down so we could use the black side. This is a great way to get more use out of your chargers.
My sister found the black and white striped plates at a thrift store! SCORE!
I have had these darling bewitching salad plates for years now. The colors are so unique for Halloween. Burgandy, green, black and white.. not your typical black and orange.
I used these witchy plates in this black and yellow witchy tablescape here.
To bring in a little bling I added my gold goblets and gold flatware. You gotta have a little sparkle on your table don’t you agree?
Bewitching centerpiece
To create a spooky black and white centerpiece we lined the paper with all kinds of goodies. I used black faux flowers like I did on this moody black and burgundy spooky tablescape.
Whenever I do a tablescape it just sort of evolves I go along.
We used a gold cake stand with a little black bird sitting on top right in the middle.
I bought the beautiful silver cake server when we were in Casoli, Italy at a darling antique shop right by our Palazzo.
We also used two wooden serving stands with white pumpkins on top.
Lots of black faux flowers strewn down the middle of the paper runner mixed with some black rats, beautiful little red pears from our tree in the backyard and little votive candles.
I also used two of my skinny gold candle holders with white candles in them.
To add even more interest and to bring in that fall look I cut some fall leaves with my Cricut machine out of paper sacks!
The brown colored leaves are from grocery store paper bags and the pinkish colored ones are cut from painting paper that you can find at Lowe’s.
(I don’t know the actual name of that paper but it is found in the paint department and it comes on large rolls)
Hanging witch hats above the table
Usually I hang my witch hats on my front porch as you can see here. We brought them in and hung them from the ceiling using command hooks.
I have found that using the space above the table is an unexpected surprise. It is so fun seeing everyones faces when they walk in the room and see things hanging from the ceiling.
The witch hats dangling above my guests is just the best!
Witchy chalkboard art
My daughter found a really cool chalkboard idea on Pinterest so I asked my sister to try and recreate it. I had some black contact paper that I used here for my hubby’s 60th birthday party as a table runner.
Tiff drew an outline of a witch and we cut it out of the contact paper and stuck it right onto the chalkboard. Then Tiff added some chalk details and a big white moon! AMAZING!
Then my daughter Emily found some butterflies and moths and we cut those out using my Cricut. So easy and they look amazing on the chalkboard and up the wall.
Plus they are removable!
Bats and brooms hanging around
On the wall opposite of the chalkboard we taped some black paper bat cutouts. You might remember how I used them here in my Halloween kitchen nook last year.
These paper bats are so fun to use and reuse every year!
I created some brooms using some of my dried herbs from my garden tied in bundles. Grabbing a few sticks from the yard and tying the herbs to the stick with twine makes for some cute witch brooms!
I attached one to the back of the head chair and laid one on the side board. They look so cool but they are a bit messy because when someone knocks them the dried leaves fall off.
The finished Bewitching black and white tablescape
Here are a few more pics of the entire tablescape. What do you all think? I just love how it all turned out!
It was really fun to incorporate my paper bag witch hat into this tablescape too. You can find the easy paper bag witch hat tutorial here.

What an entertainingly bewitched table! Absolutely love the unique witch plates which established the theme! Their colors and designs are different than the usual witchy fare. The black touches are perfect, and the hats hanging from the ceiling are so fun! You gave us an interesting tip to use chargers upside down — I have no idea what the bottoms of mine look like, lol. It was a pleasure hopping with you!

I shared this today Karin!
Hi Karin, I love all of the unique details to your table and around the room. The hanging witch’s hat, bats and brooms are such a great effect. And the bag witch’s hat with tutorial is fabulous. I especially like the use of the witch silhouette on the black chalkboard. It is awesome and adds a larger size deco piece to the room. The witchy plates are so fun and the beautiful cake stand from Italy is a perfect accent for any and all tablescapes. It is a perfect piece to bring home. A fun and festive Halloween tablescape.
What a fun table with those cute little plates! I love the idea of hanging the witch hats over the table! That makes the entire room so much fun! I am glad you had help, please take care of yourself! Happy Halloween!
You’re so right, hanging things above the table is a surprise and always so impressive. Love what you created.
This is fantastic and I love the hats hanging. They look like they are floating, so cool. Love the witches’ brooms too. Pinned
Karin, your hanging witch hats certainly had my attention, they are perfect for Halloween. I am so sorry you are having back problem, not fun at all. The bewitching plates are so cute and the hanging herb brooms are creative and fun. It is always a pleasure to join you for tabletop hopping. Happy Autumn!
The video is so cute! I loved watching it….is that your voice? It sounds witchy! I love all the details in your dining room, especially your chalkboard. What a great idea….I could have lots of fun with one of those! I also like the witch’s broom made from dried herbs. ADORABLE! All of your black accents truly pop in your dining room. Happy Halloween!
What a fun Halloween table Karin. I love how it came out. Those witch plates are so cute. The hanging witch hats are such a nice touch and I love the broom on the back of the chair.
I love those witch plates too they are just so cute and it was so fun to hang the witch hats above the table. The grandkids loved it!
Very creative Karin…As you saw from my table, I love black and white. Hanging the witch hats from the ceiling is clever (I use command hooks all the time) So sorry your back is “out”…it seems when one’s back has a problem…every part of your body is affected. Get well soon.
It is always a pleasure to blog hop with you.
Blessings Always
Kari
Wow Karin, the hanging witch hats are so cool! How wonderful to have “assistants” to do all the work {I’m sooo sorry about your back!} I’ve never thought of turning chargers over, what a brilliant idea! Love the flatware runner and all the super creative crafts and decor that you’ve included, the paper leaves, the chalkboard witch the herb bundle brooms, so many fabulous details! And the black critters are really creepy! Cute witch plates and paper bag witch hat, all so much fun! Great table, and I hope you’re feeling better soon!
Thank you Jenna I could not do it without all the help. We really had fun working on it together. Thank you for your sweet message. I am feeling better.
Karin, Your hanging witch hats, herb bundle brooms, and chalkboard art really set the stage for your spellbinding table! What a great tip to use your chargers upside down to add a black accent to your place settings.
It’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you again. Happy October!
Mary, I love how you called it spellbinding…I need to use that word more often 🙂 I am glad you liked my idea of flipping the chargers upside down. I hope you can use my idea sometime.
Hugs, Karin
Hi Karin, I had to smile when I saw that your daughter was so helpful in putting your table setting together. Mine is the same. You have to love their creative and fearless spirits. It’s a joy to have them share the creative process. Loved your floating hats. I have to try that. Alll your black and white elements worked together to create a great table. The broom on the back of the chairs is great. What witch would go anywhere without transportation. Have a great Halloween. Lynne
Thanks so much Lynne. It is always the best to have family helping with their creative juices! I really appreciate your sweet comments.
Hugs,
karin
Karin, you have thought of every perfect detail in creating your Halloween table. The witch hats above are so cute and the brooms at the head chairs are a wonderful touch. The witchy salad plates are precious. Everything looks so festive for a fun gathering. It has been such a join to join you on this hop. Happy fall!
What a fun Halloween table! I love how you used contact paper on your chalkboard! The whole room is so festive! Adore your creativity! Blessings, Donna
Karin, you bewitched me with your hanging hats — marvelous! Genius idea to use Command Hooks; I’ll have to tuck that in my noggin for future use. Always love a black and white look! Those plates are so cute too, with fun little pops of color for interest! And, how spooktacular is the black board art! Would love to park my broom at your fun table and set for a spell.
Karin, you put some of the best tables together. Hanging the hats from the ceiling draws the eye up. and adding the herbs to the fruit tree limbs is a clever trick I need to try.
I hope your back us feeling better.
Happy October,
Rachelle
This is great fun, Karin. The very first things that caught my attention were the witch hats hanging, and the chalkboard with the butterflies and moths going off the board. All very cleverly done! I love the herb brooms too. Oh, and those bats! Yes, love it all. And when I see the work done to set some of these tables – in your case standing on the table – I just cringe, hoping we don’t read about someone crashing down for the sake of creativity, lol!
Happy you were able to get your coven to come together and set this fun table for the blog hop!
Very fun and creative, I, too have hanging witch hats. The Bewitching theme is a favorite. Love the witch chalkboard and the cute broom hanging from the back of the chair. Your witchy plates are so fun. love them! Black and white is a classic look. A pleasure joining you on this fun Halloween Tablescape Blog Hop.
