If you’re looking for an effortless fall fashion outfit for over 50 that’s stylish, age-appropriate, and fun, I’ve found a look that checks all the boxes! My black and white houndstooth skirt is knee-length—a perfect choice for us ladies 50 and older. It’s classic without feeling stuffy and hits just the right spot to stay modest but fashionable.
Underneath, I’m keeping it classic with a crisp white blouse that’s always a style win. To add a touch of warmth, I layered a black boatneck sweater over the blouse, creating a chic and cozy look for fall. The combination feels put-together but easy to wear.
One of my favorite parts of this look is pairing black tights with tall black boots. This sleek combo adds a touch of elegance and lengthens the look of your legs.
I picked up these beautiful boots in London last year, and they’ve been a staple for cooler days—they just add that little something extra!
I love wearing different types of shoes in the fall and winter. Here is a post about a few of my favorites.
I went with understated yet pretty jewelry: a long gold chain with a circular pendant and a triple-layered gold necklace that sits just above it.
For earrings, I chose gold half hoops lined with tiny white pearls, adding a subtle sparkle without distracting from the overall look.
Funny story- my husband was taking these photos and before i put jewelry on he said “aren’t you going to add some crop dusting to your outfit”. I was laughing so hard ..crop dusting? Ha ha Even after I put the jewelry on I could not stop laughting. I said do you mean “frosting” (which is jewelry). He said “oh I thought it was something to do with dusting.”
For a bit of flair, I topped the outfit with a bold kelly green coat. This fun pop of color brightens up the black-and-white base, making the whole outfit feel lively and on-trend. Believe it or not, I found this coat on Temu for only $20! It comes in grey too!
It’s fully lined and has a flattering fit with stylish black buttons down the front. The polyester material makes it lightweight yet warm, perfect for crisp autumn days.
With this classic, comfortable, and color-popping look, you’re all set for anything from lunch dates to errands around town. This outfit is proof that you don’t need to sacrifice style for comfort—especially when you add a fun, bold layer like this green coat.
