Cinco de Mayo: A How To Set a Festive Tablescape Guide!

Hola, fellow party enthusiasts! With Cinco de Mayo just around the corner, it’s time to kick your party planning into high gear. I am showing you how to create a festive tablescape that’s as vibrant and lively as the celebration itself. Join me as I take you through my step-by-step guide to crafting the ultimate Cinco de Mayo tablescape. This is sure to impress your guests.

Setting the Stage:

I couldn’t help but be drawn to the rustic charm of my hand-carved long wooden bowl. This versatile piece not only adds a touch of natural beauty but also serves as the perfect low centerpiece.

This allows for easy conversation across the table. Plus, with these bowls currently on sale in my shop, karinskottageshop.com, they’re an absolute steal at just $12 each.

Thee wooden bowls also make a Mother’s Day gift that’s both practical and stylish!

Embracing Color:

No Cinco de Mayo celebration is complete without a burst of vibrant color. I found just the thing in a set of thrifted orange napkins. Originally from Crate and Barrel, these napkins bring a pop of energy to the table. They help set the stage for the festivities to come.

They were a tad too large to serve as placemats on my round table.

But a simple fold transformed them into the perfect accent beneath my white dinner plates. These rest atop round rattan placemats. The combination of textures and hues creates a dynamic and visually appealing tableau that’s sure to capture attention.

Green Salad Plates

To bring in a little more glitz I added in my iridescent green salad plates. I have had these for years. These plates are from Pier1. It was the best store and I really miss it. Don’t you? I found some here that look similar.

They always had the most amazing table top items. Plus I could almost always find things on clearance! I have used them through the years! A gorgeous green and copper St. Patrick’s tablescape here. For Christmas one year I used them with bright red here.

Channeling Mexico’s Spirit:

To truly capture the essence of Mexico, I turned to my trusty blue glasses from Ikea. With their azure hues reminiscent of the country’s stunning coastline, they added a touch of coastal charm to the table.

But why stop there? To infuse even more color and personality into the setup, I folded my bright pink and orange napkins accordion-style and nestled them into the glasses.

I secured them with colorful wood beaded napkin rings. The result? A playful and whimsical touch that’s sure to spark conversation and delight guests of all ages.

Creating Memories in Minutes:

Believe it or not, putting together this eye-catching tablescape took just minutes. Proof that you don’t need to spend hours to create a memorable setup.

The key?

Embracing creativity and having fun with your decor choices.

Mix and match textures, experiment with colors, and don’t be afraid to think outside the box. Whether you’re serving up tacos, tamales, or refreshing margaritas, a vibrant tablescape sets the perfect mood for a festive celebration.

Your Cinco De Mayo Festive Tablescape

As Cinco de Mayo approaches, I invite you to gather your loved ones and embrace the joy of Mexican-inspired decor.

With a little creativity and a lot of color, you can create a tablescape that’s as unforgettable as the occasion itself. So grab your sombrero, dust off your maracas, and get ready to celebrate in style.

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!
