Homemade crackers with hint of cheese

I found this yummy recipe on how to make homemade crackers on Served from Scratch and made a few slight adjustments. They turned out so good with a hint of cheese. My daughter and I even taught the kids in our cooking class how to make them. The kids thought they were incredible and gobbled everyone of them up!

These are perfect for fall when you use a leaf cookie cutter or Valentine’s day and use a heart cookie cutter. The original recipe calls for a round cutter and to poke the cracker to look like a Ritz cracker. Whichever way you choose to cut your crackers out they will be amazing.

Ingredients:

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 3 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Beer can seasoning
  • 1 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp Sugar

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 Egg (refrigerated)
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 8 tbsp Butter

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  1. In a food processor, add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, kosher salt, beer can seasoning and sugar. Pulse a few times to mix. This is where the magic of creating the perfect cracker begins!

2. Add 6 Tbsp butter to the food processor and pulse to combine. Then slowly add olive oil into the food processor while it is running.

4. Add shredded cheese and pulse a few more times

5. Slowly add the water to the mixture with the food processor running. Continue to pulse until the dough starts to form.

6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough out very thin. The thinner the crispier but if you like more a biscuit then leave the dough thicker. Now, it’s time to get creative! You can use cookie cutters to cut the dough into your preferred theme and size.

4. Bake in oven for 10 minutes in the center rack.

5. Melt remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and then brush with melted butter while still hot.

6. Cool and enjoy!

7. Serve these delectable crackers warm, with a slice of cheese. You will have a cozy treat that’s perfect for sharing with family and friends.
