I love this time of year so much and I can’t wait to make two pumpkin topiaries to go on either side of my front door…I looked around on the internet and found some pictures to inspire me and hopefully all of you too! What is it about pumpkins and the all the warm colors of autumn that just make me feel so upbeat! I can’t get enough of that orange/red color. I really love the pumpkins with white twinkie lights in them (our family has always referred to Christmas lights as twinkie lights). I just have the best memories as a kid growning up in New Jersey going trick or treating, watching “It’s the great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”, picking out a costume with one of those plastic masks that you could hardly see out of, collecting money for unicef while trick or treating, drinking hot apple cider with donuts, eating yummy homemade soup, raking leaves and jumping in them from the high in the trees outside our house….so many memories. Share some of your memories by leaving a comment.
Karins Kottage
Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!
Flippin' gorgeous! I was going to do a link back sort of post to yours...but I don't see that option.

Hi my darling girl,
You are amazing! I can't believe how talented you are. You and Tiff and Tim have such an eye for color. We do have great memories of N.J. don't we? Remember that road with all the trees that created an umbrella from side to side? It was amazing. Love, Love, Love the fall, it's my favorite. Wish you were here, you and Tiff, and we could make doughnuts and make apple cider and take it over to your little? brother. I have an apple press so we could do it all. You have inspired me to get out all the fall stuff and think happy thoughts. Love you! MOM
Cherry...I know I just loved the numerical one too! So unique and fun.
Meghan.... I actually only lived in New Jersey for two or three years and then one year on Long Island. Then all the rest I lived in So. Calif. I just loved living in New Jersey...I have the best memories ever! I lived in Bergen County...Waldwick...by Wycoff if that helps.
Chris...I love roasting pumpkin seeds the smell is just the best!
Tommie- I can just smell the mulled cider!! That signals the holidays for me for sure.
I absolutely love this time of year. Burning Root candles (pumpkin spice and mulled cider) together always bring back fond memories of this time of year!
Oooh, I love every single picture! I love those topiaries, but I just don't think I'm talented enough to make one. A favorite memory? Baking pumpkin seeds in the oven when I was little. The smell, the sound, the warmth of our little kitchen--perfection!
Love all those pumpkins! I am into the white pumpkins this year. Just got one from Michaels over the weekend.
You grew up in Jersey? Where? I am in South Jersey by Philly.
LOve your blog...love the numericals on the one pumpkin topiary. I am off to look at your sis's blog. cherry
