Recreate Pinterest Outfit Ideas: Shopping My Closet

I have been having fun recreating a Pinterest Outfit just by shopping your closet! Have you ever come across one of those super chic outfits on Pinterest and thought, “Ooooh I love that—but do I have anything like it?” Well, I recently fell in love with a cute and casual Pinterest outfit and decided to try recreating it with pieces I already had in my closet. Spoiler alert: I think it turned out pretty darn great!

Let’s break it down!

📌 The Inspiration

The outfit that caught my eye featured a pair of gold pants, a classic denim shirt, a brown belt tied in a fun knot, some stylish accessories, and a straw bag with a scarf. The whole vibe was easy, polished, and perfect for spring!

✨ Shopping My Closet to recreate Pinterest outfit idea

Gold Pants

I’ve had these cropped, raw-hem gold pants from Gap for a few years now and they’re so comfy. Unfortunately, they’re no longer available, but I found a few similar options and linked them for you at the bottom of the post under “Shop Similar Clothes.” I love cropped pants. Here is a post where I show 7 ways to style them.

Denim Top

This top was a sweet gift from my mom, and I have to say, she has great taste! It’s soft, flowy, and has that perfect broken-in denim look—very similar to the inspiration photo. I love how it pairs with the gold pants!

I have styled my denim shirt here with some plaid ankle pants and a black jacket

Brown Belt (Hello, Closet Find!)

Digging around in the back of my closet, I found an old brown belt and styled it just like the Pinterest look—with a casual little knot. It added that perfect touch of interest and helped define my waist.

Long Necklace
In the inspo photo, she’s wearing a yellow and blue beaded necklace. I didn’t have anything quite like that, but I did have a long silver necklace that worked beautifully. Bonus: it draws the eye downward and helps elongate my short torso—a styling trick I use all the time!

Shoes
The Pinterest outfit featured brown loafers or deck shoes, which I don’t own. So I swapped in my trusty brown wedge sandals, and honestly? They totally work! The added height gives the look a little lift—literally and figuratively.

Straw Bag + Scarf
Lucky me, I did have a straw bag tucked away! I tied on a small scarf just like in the inspo pic and voilà—an adorable finishing touch.

Denim Jacket Switch-Up
Just for fun, I threw on my denim jacket to see how it would change the look. I love how layering the jacket gave the outfit a whole new vibe—perfect for cooler spring evenings! I also switched out the sandals and added white sneakers.

I’ve rounded up a few similar items so you can recreate the look, too! Scroll down to the bottom of the post for all the links.

So what do you think? Did I come close to the original look? I had such a fun time “shopping my closet” to pull this together. Let me know in the comments if you’d like to see more Pinterest outfit recreations—I’d love to make this a fun little series!

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!

  • I LOVE your posts! It is great to see a 'woman of a certain age' so glamorous! Thank you a million. It is sometimes hard for me to remember how old I am, as my spirit is still young. Keep up the great posts!

    • Thank you Arlene! That means a lot. I try to come up with fashion ideas for us gals of a certain age that we can feel comfortable in as well as stylish. Our minds still believe we are in our 20's and 30's but our bodies sometimes remind us what age we really are ;) Thanks again for stopping by and sharing your comments.

      Hugs,
      Karin

    • Thank you so much Joanne! It is so fun to put together something new just by shopping my closet! I really appreciate your comments 🥰
