This is my twist on a stylish Pinterest look I found for us over 50 ladies. Mostly this is all about having fun, experimenting with different looks, and stepping outside my comfort zone. Sometimes, my style experiments hit the mark, and other times…well, let’s just say it’s a learning experience! This week, I decided to try a look I spotted on Pinterest, putting my own twist on it with what I already had in my closet.
The inspiration? A chic ensemble featuring rolled-up skinny jeans, a cozy sweater, a scarf, a black leather jacket, paired with boots. The reality? My version took a few liberties!
I started with wide-leg jeans that have a raw edge hem—such a fun alternative to skinny jeans and perfect for a relaxed vibe. Instead of rolling up jeans, I let the raw hem add its own flair. I paired them with a black sweater and a blue scarf for that cozy, layered look. My black Chelsea boots are always a win for cold-weather outings, and I added a black belt for a polished finish.
Here’s where the improvisation came in: I don’t own a black leather jacket, but my brown leather jacket worked just fine. For extra warmth, I threw on my long black coat over everything. It might not have been Pinterest-perfect, but I loved how the combination came together.
You might remember I bought this long black coat while on a trip to Italy and London you can see another way of how I styled it here in an older post of my linky party.
Now let’s talk about my hat—a leather bucket hat! I bought this a year or so go while traveling in Italy. It’s a bit funky, but it was the closest thing to the look in the photo. And honestly? I kind of loved how it added a playful touch to the outfit.
I wore this ensemble for a brisk walk to the park with our granddaughters and my daughter’s dog. The fresh air was invigorating, but wow, it was freezing! While I stayed warm with all those layers, I forgot gloves, and my hands paid the price.
This little style experiment reminded me that fashion is about feeling good in your skin and having fun with what you wear. Will I wear this exact outfit again? Maybe! But even if I don’t, I had so much fun putting it together and making it my own.
Have you ever tried recreating a look from Pinterest? I’d love to hear how it turned out—hits, misses, and all!
Until next time, stay warm and stylish, my friends!

I love this fun outfit: the bucket hat is so cute. I don't like summer ones, but this one is cool. Love replicating outfits from Pinterest and I have one on the blog today too! This is a great one! And love the pic with the grandkids!

Good for you ! I love your boots. I have a funny hat story. I always wanted a hat that that I called a p pot. It was really cold so I wore my new hat out. First people stared at me. Second, when I walked to the parking lot, a bird pooped on my new black velvet hat.
Some things are funny later.
Oh my gosh I am dying hahaha I am sure you were not happy at that very moment. I have a funny bird poop story too! I was living in Texas at the time and there are these awful birds that dive bomb you. I was having a argument with my teenage daughter and decided to leave and get into my car that was parked in the garage. One of those stupid birds was in the garage and just as I was tyring to open the car door to get in, the bird dive bombed me and I started to yell nooooo and the bird popped right in my mouth!! So utterly disgusting! I ran into the house gagging and my daughter was laughing hysterically as I tried to rinse my mouth out. It is funny now when I think back and wondered how that dumb bird had such good aim!
