Winter fashion is all about blending comfort with style, and today, I’m sharing my favorite go-to cozy winter outfit featuring a Fair Isle sweater, an oversized white blouse, wide-leg jeans, and my trusty Ugg snow boots. To keep things fresh, I’ve styled this base look with two different coats for two distinct vibes. Let’s dive into the details! Vogue said it best- ‘Fair Isle sweater is never not in style“
You can never go wrong with a classic white blouse as the foundation of an outfit. I’m wearing my oversized white blouse that I have had for a few years now. It adds a polished touch (ignore the wrinkles haha ) while being incredibly versatile. Since I have a relatively short neck, I love layering it under a crewneck sweater—the collar gives the illusion of length and adds a chic detail to the overall look.
My wide-leg jeans are a dream! They’re high-waisted with a bit of waist control, which creates a long and lean silhouette. These jeans pair beautifully with winter boots, casual flats, or even a dressier heeled boot for a more elevated outfit.
The star of this look is my Fair Isle sweater. I adore its cozy, woolen feel and the gorgeous mix of grey with green, cream, and rust detailing around the collar, cuffs, and hem. It’s perfect for creating that classic winter vibe, making me think of snowy ski lodges and warm firesides (even if I haven’t hit the slopes in years!). I’ve linked similar Fair Isle sweater options at the end of this post—trust me, they’re wardrobe staples.
For footwear, I’m sticking with my Ugg snow boots. I’ve had them for a couple of years, and they’re perfect for everything from a cozy stroll around the lake to running errands on chilly days. They keep my feet warm and dry, plus they’re stylish enough to complement this outfit. I’ve linked a few similar Ugg boot styles below, so you can find your perfect pair.

To finish off the outfit, I’m showcasing two coat options that completely transform the look:
Green Wool-Blend Coat: This tailored, button-front coat adds a touch of elegance. It’s easy to move in and elevates the outfit for a polished winter vibe.
I have styled this coat with a black and white houndstooth skirt here.
Plaid Shacket Coat: For a more casual, mountain-inspired style, I opted for a plaid button-up shacket. It’s cozy and perfect for laid-back days in Utah’s chilly winter weather.
Both coats are versatile and make this outfit ideal for a variety of occasions, from casual outings to slightly dressier winter gatherings.
This outfit—wide-leg jeans, an oversized white blouse, a Fair Isle sweater, Ugg snow boots, and a great coat—is my go-to look for winter. It’s effortlessly stylish, warm, and comfortable for whatever the season throws your way.

That's a really cute look; I love it. My style isn't much different. I have several different colors of Ugg boots that I rotate, depending on what colors I'm wearing on top. I usually wear skinny jeans or leggings with a tunic that's long enough to cover my rear. It does get really cold here in SD; however, I'm very warm-natured indoors, so I don't wear layers much. Usually a long-sleeve top with the skinny jeans and Uggs is enough. I sew, so I make most of my tops. I've designed my patterns to yield a body-skimming style (not too tight/not too baggy) that is long enough for my preferred rear coverage. I'm not a skinny woman, and I think the long tunic and skinny jeans give me somewhat of a slimmer silhouette. That's my story, anyway, and I'm sticking to it. I have lost 40 lb. recently and I'm enjoying being slimmer than before.
Thank you so much for your comment. I love that you sew your tops! I have never been able to find a pattern I love as far as tops go. Congratulations on the 40 lb loss, that is so great. I am sure you are really enjoying lots of fun fashion styles. I would like to loose 10-15 pounds but it just keeps hanging on.
Such a cozy and stylish winter look! The Fair Isle sweater is a perfect choice for the season.
Good Morning Karin. I like the look. I keep hunt for a white blouse thatI like! Being short makes it a little tough. My go to is similar. Ugg boots with jeans or black pants and sweaters that don't have a crew neck. I consider having several coats of different styles and weights is a must here in central PA. Have a good day..
Thank you so much Linda for your kind comment. It totally made my day. I share ideas and try to inspire others so it makes me happy to hear you like it. Being short or even short waisted like me does make things a little tricky especially when wearing oversized blouses. Thanks for stopping by ❤️
Have you taken a good look in the mirror? That sweater with a teeny tiny ballet skirt sticking out is NOT a good look. You have no shape in that outfit. I encourage you to find something else to remind you of snow.
Hi Marilynn, I am not sure what you are looking at but I have a white blouse sticking out from the sweater not a ballet skirt. Sometimes the blouse gathers together when I have the sweater over the blouse. I still like the look of the sweater. Thanks for your comments.
