Kottage Happenings

This week on Karins Kottage- I created a fun Halloween paper wreath that you can make in literally 15-20 minutes! Using cute Halloween paper and cardboard from a shipping box!

If you are looking for an easy fall dessert look no further! I made this super easy quick pear tart that is so delicious and the crust is to die for! Buttery and flaky equals pure heaven in my mouth!

Centerpiece Wednesday Highlights

Black and white for Halloween is so fun! I love this Hocus Pocus sign that Not just a House Wife created! She made it by painting a board white and the used vinyl lettering that she cut out with a machine as a kind of reverse stencil. Then she spray painted it black. It looks amazing on her mantel! Her whole Halloween mantel is fabulous!

Is there anything better than a beautiful fall porch? I love using cornstalks and pumpkins on my porch. Look at Cherished Bliss’s front porch that she says anyone can do. I love the color of her house and the porch steps! So pretty with the all the pumpkins and the wreath on her door! She also has some pretty black and white pillows and throws on her porch too. Go check it out!

How cool are these Halloween lights made from old glass bottles! Pillar box Blue is always so creative! To make these Spooktacular Halloween lights she used Halloween stickers and then spray painted the bottles. You could use die cuts from your Cricut or Silhouette but she suggests you use a spray adhesive. The lighting she used is called a cork fairy. I had never heard of them before but I need some! I just saw they are on Amazon Prime today for $15.99

How about these adorable Ghost Meringue cookies from Drug Store Divas they are so cute! I love how she melted chocolate chips and used a toothpick to draw their little ghost faces on them. Best of all you can keep them in an air tight container for a week! I love making things ahead of time especially for holidays!

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!
