Easy Marigold Pumpkin Tutorial

Isn’t this adorable? A couple of years ago I had like a bajillion marigolds growing in my backyard and I had seen this idea on Better Homes and gardens so my daughter and I decided to try and make this Easy Marigold Pumpkin Tutorial for you!

Marigold Pumpkin Items Needed

  • Small Urn
  • Wet Floral foam
  • Dry floral foam is needed
  • Lots of marigolds

We used a small urn that I had in my storage of vases that I thought would make this marigold pumpkin look cute but you can use whatever you have! The urn was a little deep so I used pieces of dry floral foam to put in the bottom of the urn and then added some wet floral foam on top.

Marigold Pumpkin Directions

Once I placed the dry floral foam in the bottom of the urn and added the wet floral foam it was kind of wobbly, so we used a bamboo skewer to attach the two floral foams together. It worked perfectly! In the future I would probably of used only the wet floral foam because it dries out fast.

Now you can start adding in the marigolds! I love using marigolds for centerpieces because they grow in abundance and they look so bright and happy. You can see another one of my easy marigold centerpiece ideas here in my simple fall tablescape using marigolds.

Simply poke marigold flowers one by one into the wet floral foam starting at the bottom. As you poke the flowers into the foam leave a little a little space in between until you have covered the entire piece of foam.

Fill in spots where there might be gaps with smaller marigolds so it looks nice and full. For the top of our pumpkin we added in some green leaves to make it look more like a pumpkin 🙂

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!

    • Hi Julie,
I love the bright orange color of the marigolds and I wouldn’t normally think to choose marigolds but I had sooo many in my garden and saw this idea on BHG a couple of years ago and just had to try to make it. I love how it turned out! Thanks so much for stopping by!
      Hugs,
      Karin
