Fashion Friday- Denim Jacket & Scarf

Have I told you how often we have guests stay at our house?
A LOT!
It kind of blows me away sometimes with the amount of people coming in and out of town needing a place to stay and we LOVE to have them here. We are supposedly in the stage of being empty nesters but our nest is more full now than it has ever been! Truly I run a bed and breakfast here! We have family, extended family, friends and friends of friends plus my husbands business associates from foreign countries stay here….you name it we have them here. Recently we had a friend of ours and business associate of my hubby’s…Lilly here all last week. Lilly is from Indoneasia but is actually Chinese. Lilly speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, Bahasa and English! She is so kind and has such a sweet personality. Lilly brought me this beautiful scarf from Indonesia and I love it!
The colors in the scarf are periwinkle blue and a dark olive green. It has a pattern of Palm trees on it. It is gorgeous! I chose to wear this yummy scarf with a denim jacket, a long white blouse and black skinny leggin pants that are so comfortable. This outfit is perfect to go anywhere..shopping, lunching, erranding :), movies etc.. I feel pulled together with the scarf tied this way…in fact my friend Lilly wanted to know how to tie her scarf just like mine..how cute is that!
Oddly enough while we were out and about with Lilly, I found a maxi skirt at my friend Brittany’s new shop called Nest Boutique that is the exact olive green color!
U
I snatched it up and it looks so cute with this scarf! I will have to do a post wearing the skirt next time.
I decided to add a fun pop of color and decided to wear my bright orange suede flats!
One of the places we took Lilly to was Temple square in downtown Salt Lake City
The gardens are in full bloom and it was so spectacular …it took my breath away!
Here is Lilly ready for her picture to be taken with the temple in the background.
Some of the tulips were just gigantic! You can’t tell in the photo but I think some of the tulip petals were as tall as my hand!!
Tulips as far as the eye can see!
We had a wonderful time showing Lilly around Salt Lake taking her shopping, lunching and of course working!
Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!
