Baby Shower on a budget for a Boy!

A cute friend of the family is having a baby boy and some friends of hers threw her a darling shower! My daughter and I made these cupcakes for the shower. Vanilla and Lemon with a butter cream frosting…pure heaven….everyone said they were the best ever!!! We use Duncan Hines mixes and we add in some “secret” ingredients 😉 to make them mouth watering!!
They held the shower in a church gym and decorated it with green, yellow and blue balloons. They served 3 different types of soup and two different types of salads.
The girl that hosted the shower made these cute pin wheels and hung them all around the room.
Each pinwheel was held together with a rhinestone brad.
The gym is always a tough room to decorate with a basketball hoops hanging at each end ….but the girls did a great job using crepe paper and clusters of balloons and blue paper tablecloths to keep your eyes focused of the colors rather than the gym.
For an activity/gift idea they gave each person a cloth diaper and told us to be “creative” and paint something on them as they would be used for burp cloths later. Everyone came up with a different design.
Here is my daughter…..Emily….with the mommy to be…Madi 🙂 best buds since high school!
It was a lovely shower and Madi enjoyed the friends and family that attended.
Hope this gives you some inexpensive ideas for a baby shower. Here are a couple of other baby shower ideas that I have blogged about in past.

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!
