Easter Sideboard Decorations

Do you ever walk into model homes and think to yourself I would love to have at least one little area of my home that just looks…well…. Perfect! I am not talking about the whole house…that is just impossible with people living in it everyday…. but just a little area a…”vignette” of perfection…… A small area of your home that you can look at each day it just makes you smile because it is perfect looking to you. Sideboards or credenza’s or whatever you want to call them (the piece of furniture that is sometimes used in the dining room) is one of the hardest for me to decorate around the holidays. I only do the big holidays…Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and Halloween. This is what I came up with for Easter-I just played around with things from around the house (as usual) and came up with this little piece of “perfection”. It makes me smile to just look at it. The black sideboard is actually a dresser for a master bedroom and it was UGLY when I found it at a thrift store for $25.00!! All I did was bring it home and paint it black. I love using different heights to create some interest. Up and down and up and down your eye goes looking at interesting fun items. I used glass cloches that I bought a while ago from Michael’s craft store, I moved a large topiary from another part of the house to this sideboard to add a lot of height. I recently received these darling little handmade signs from Amy Kinser that she sent to me as the winner of her pay it forward giveaway in and around some of my fun items.

I stacked a bunch of my plates on a simple glass cake plate and topped it with a birds nest filled with eggs and covered it with another glass cloche. Plus I added another small topiary and a funky brown globe garden thingy (I don’t know what it is called) and my french Pig seen at the far left.

Here is a closeup of the birds nest under glass and my white terrarium
that I love love love!

It is starting to look like Easter to me. 🙂

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!

  • YOur vignette is so pretty and just spells spring. Love the topiaries and your cloches are fabulous. I love that you used a terrarium also. Beautifully done. Thanks so much for joining the party. Hugs, Marty

  • Gorgeous. Of course you know that I drool over your cloches and I love the way you have decorated inside them. Your topiaries are just wonderful too. I love it all together. You really have put a lovely vignette together. You should smile, it really is pretty. Thanks so much for joining the party. Hugs, Marty

  • beautiful! My front entry is the ONLY part of my home that makes me drool - the rest of the house has a long way to go, but at least I do have that ONE spot of loveliness!

  • I wish I had a sideboard/credenza type place to have one "perfect place" to decorate in my home - especially if I could decorate it like you have! Beautiful! Love the nest under the cloche and the terrarium. Everything looks wonderful together.

  • This is so pretty! You have a true gift to put things together and make them look great!
