OOOOH How about this! Apples on sticks with branches of fall leaves! (photo is from Country Home Oct. 2007) Simple but so beautiful! I am thinking of adapting this idea for Thanksgiving. Using the apples and leaves but making the centerpiece shorter so you can see over it. Or you could use this centerpiece on your sideboard in the dining room or how about on a table in your entry way to signal that fall has arrived. It is just scrumptious! I also love the mis-matched dining chairs, the golden hued glasses and goblets and of course it doesn’t hurt that it is set outside under a a colorful fall tree. I want to be there right now!!!

Karins Kottage
Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!

Ok, Whoa. That is an AWSOME picture.. so much better than mine. I love them on the floor like that.
You might check on ebay for glass water bottles, I have two and got them pretty cheap. You could always cut a round hole in the back like the one I found.

Oh Kim, I have this exact picture in a photo album. I saved it and look at it often. Too bad we cant eat outside all the time. :)
Thanks for the comment, I stuffed orange twinkle lights into the back of a large glass bottle (the kind they used to use for office water, before plastic). I found the bottle for a few dollars at a flea market, someone had cut a round hole out of the back to create a terrerium (spelling?). I just put the lights through that and plugged them into an extension chord. No planning whatsoever, I just didnt know what else to do with all those orange lights! :)
