Today I am sharing how to recreate a Pinterest outfit easily for those of us over 50 from your closet! Have you ever scrolled through Pinterest and found the perfect outfit, only to realize you don’t own the exact pieces? That happened to me recently, but instead of shopping for new items, I decided to recreate the look using what I already had in my closet. It was such a fun challenge, and I think I pulled it off pretty well!
The outfit I fell in love with featured:
I didn’t have exact matches for everything, but that didn’t stop me from recreating the look in my own way! Here’s how I styled it:
I love my wide-leg, oversized large-cuff dark wash jeans from Nordstrom, and they were the perfect base for this outfit. The dramatic cuff adds a modern yet classic touch, making them a great wardrobe staple. I styled them here like the popular fisherman aesthetic.
I already had a denim blouse in my closet—one that my sweet mom gave me a few years ago. It’s a timeless piece that works with so many outfits. Over the blouse, I layered a brown textured cardigan sweater that I had hanging in my closet. It was a great match for the inspiration photo! I wore my denim blouse with my brown pants here and styled the pants 5 ways!
To mimic the stacked gold jewelry look, I added a fun layered gold necklace and a long gold necklace with a round pendant. This simple addition really pulled the outfit together and gave it that polished feel.
I didn’t have a plaid jacket in my closet, but I borrowed one from my hubby’s closet instead! It turned out to be the perfect oversized look when draped over my arm and later layered over my sweater and blouse. Who knew borrowing from the men’s section could be so stylish?
While I don’t own brown loafers, I opted for my cheetah flats instead. They added a fun twist and a little personality to the look while still keeping it classy.
I don’t have big wide black glasses but I do have tortoise shell glasses. These fit the bill and look great with the outfit. You don’t have to recreate the Pinterest look exactly to get the same vibe.

I need to try again to find a light denim shirt: each time I thrift one, I end up donating it again: I need to find the right fit: not too tight nor too loose. Love this recreation: I always enjoy doing that: finding new ways to wear what I have!

You did a great job!
I love Pinterest recreations too! You always look so pulled together when you do these posts. I struggle with having the right shoes most the time. It's a never ending thing. :)
Thank you Stacey that means so much. Shoes can be tricky because the styles change so much. Chunky, flats, sneakers heels etc. I totally get that. I just have to try different shoes on with each outfit to see what I like best. What do you do to find the right look?

Love when you create a similar style off of Pinterest! Please keep doing it. So inspiring and no cost! I get tired of readi g fashion blogs where there a gazillion links to buy the outfits pictured.😀
Thank you so much Brenda! I will keep doing the Pinterest outfit recreations. They are really fun to do. It makes me look at my closet in a whole new way!
Hugs,
