Christmas Magic Unleashed: Our Sugar Plum Fairy Extravaganza!

Our sugar plum fairy Extravaganza! This year’s Christmas celebration was nothing short of enchanting. We delved into the whimsical world of our annual beloved Sugar Plum Fairy party for our grandkids. Grab a cup of cocoa and cozy up. I am taking you through the festive wonderland we created for our family.

Decking the Halls with Sugar Plum Elegance:

Visualize our dining room starting with blank surfaces. Then I transformed it into a magical realm where the Sugar Plum Fairy danced alongside Elf for a fun Christmas extravaganza!

I started by placing greenery down the center of the sideboard. Then I added in two of my pink wreaths that I made followed by glass jars filled with candy and cookies.

In other glass jars I filled with ornaments and other Christmas decor. This helped to make it feel magical.

The room looked amazing when I was done. My granddaughter said it was magical!

Vibrant colors painted the scene, with a white Christmas tree adorned by a myriad of bright colored ornaments. The kids love to help decorate this little tree.

The chandelier dripped with elegance, showcasing a selection of pink plastic ornaments, hung delicately with pink ribbons. The great thing about these ornaments is that they are plastic! My sister found an enormous bag of them at the thrift store! SCORE!!

Miniature bright pink bottle brush Christmas trees and more pink ornaments adorned the table, creating a feast for the eyes. Gold chargers with pink napkins and sparkly reindeers as a napkin holder.

Above the sideboard, pink ornaments cascaded with ribbons over the chalkboard, completing the picture of festive charm. A few smaller snowflakes was added in between the pink ornaments.

A Touch of Elf Magic for our Sugar plum fairy extravaganza:

The ceiling became a canvas for the whimsy of the Elf movie. I made giant snowflakes crafted from white paper lunch sacks. Simply using some string and thumb tack made it easy to hang. Gold garlands added a touch of sparkle throughout.

It was a sight to behold, capturing the spirit of the season.

Pizza-Making Extravaganza:

The festivities kicked off with a pizza-making bonanza. All hands, big and little, rolled out pizza dough and topped it with pepperoni, cheese, and an array of toppings.

It wasn’t just about dinner; it was a culinary adventure that set the stage for a night of joy.

Minute to Win It Shenanigans:

Laughter echoed through the room as we engaged in a series of Minute to Win It games. From Hungry Hungry Hippo with plastic cup feet to blindfolded bow pickups. To play hungry hungry hippo all you need is 2 plastic cups for each player and lots of marshmallows. The object is to pick up as many marshmallows as you can and place on a plate or bowl.

It is harder than you think!

The cup game is another favorite. Each cup is numbered and filled with surprises, The muffin tins have corresponding numbers in each muffin cup. Using a ping pong ball the player tries to bounce it into a muffin cup with a number. Whatever number they land on they can find the matching cup and lift up to reveal their prize. I used simple things like candy, little toys, money and chocolates to fill the cups.

Our grandkids range in age 2 – 14 years old. Every child played the games. Of course the 2 year old did not have a blind fold.

Untangling Laughter:

The untangling games brought a new level of hilarity. Picture kids facing each other, hands intertwined, attempting to untangle the human knot.

Or two people wrestling to free themselves from a towel entanglement. Each player has a towel. They loop it over each other towel once. Then the untangling begins. Try to untangle without letting go of your towel.

Pure joy in motion!

Movie Night and Sleepover:

After all the excitement, we cozied up for a Christmas movie, followed by a delightful sleepover. Snuggled under blankets, the magic of the season lingered as we drifted off into dreams filled with sugar plums and laughter.

Gingerbread Dreams:

The next morning brought puffy pancakes. You can find my tried and true recipe here. We topped them with fruit and whipped cream. Creative adventures as the kids crafted mini gingerbread houses out of graham crackers.

Yahoo chocolate milk boxes were used as the foundation. Candies and frosting became the finishing touches to their edible masterpieces.

Cherished Memories:

As the echoes of laughter and the scent of holiday treats lingered, our hearts were full. Christmas magic wasn’t just in the decorations or games; it was in the shared moments that created memories to last a lifetime.

From our Sugar Plum Fairy family to yours, may your holidays be filled with love, laughter, and the enchantment of the season. Until next time, keep the magic alive!

Cheers, Karin

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!
