Today I am sharing our Tremiti Island adventure. The amazing thing about our Palazzo Ricci is the fact that you can travel to many other places so near by. The beaches here are one of my top 3 Italian beaches to visit.
Palazzo Ricci is situated minutes to the base of a beautiful mountain range called the Majella mountains. You can hike, ski, climb, fish etc. In the opposite direction of the mountains from palazzo Ricci is the aqua turquoise shores of the Adriatic Sea. Beyond the beaches of Abruzzo are 4 the islands of Tremiti.
Traveling from Palazzo Ricci to Tremiti is a combined 2 hour journey by car and ferry. Termoli is the port of departure to Tremiti. The ferry ride is very relaxing and you arrive in a little less than an hour.
We stayed at one of the larger 3 star hotels on San Domino in the Tremiti islands. There are not a lot of full service hotels on San Domino. A different option could be a boutique hotel or B&B. We chose to stay at the Eden hotel because it has direct access to one of the best secluded beaches there on the island.
The hotel is also right near the small town square with a lot of restaurants and a few shops.
The other great thing is the fact that the hotel offers shuttles to and from the port and breakfast is included on a beautiful outdoor patio overlooking the sea.
This hotel is a very simple hotel with not a lot of luxury but the rooms are big and everything is very clean.
The very first thing we did was head to the beach! To get down to the seclude beach you wind down a lot stairs through a beautiful wooded area.
You can see the Adriatic Sea as you go along and it is stunning. The smell of the pine trees on your way down to the beach is heavenly. It kind of reminds of of Lake Tahoe.
You have the option of either renting a space on the sand with two lounge chairs and an umbrella or there is a rocky area with smooth surfaces that a lot of people use for free.
The Adriatic Sea is absolutely incredible! Warmer temperatures then most of the Mediterranean seas. There is no seaweed! That alone is fabulous! Super clear water and fun to snorkel in.
There is plenty of fish and sea life to explore. One of the best things about the Adriatic Sea is that because it is salty you float!
My hubby loves this because he normally cannot float at all.
There is something I’ve noticed attending beaches in Italy. No matter your age, size or shape everyone there is enjoying life to the fullest.
I watched lots of older couples of all shapes and sizes in their speedos and bikini’s living their best life! I think I need to get my husband speedo haha.
All the food and gelato we had on the Island was delizioso!
Mike had sea bass and it was like butter! Can you tell he loved it?
I had an incredible potato sausage pizza!
Who would of thought to put potatoes on pizza but it was soooo good!
Up next our most incredible sunset boat ride!
