Entertaining and Parties

Navy, Peach, Pink, and White Wedding reception and Hot Dog Bar!!

Navy, Peach, Pink and White wedding reception!
I have been so busy lately sewing, creating, planning out our ideas for my daughters wedding and I thought I would share with you how I go about making this come to life. The wedding is over the 4th of July weekend so we are doing a little twist on the colors… Navy, peach, coral, pink and white. The peach pink and coral colors will come from the flowers and the beautiful napkins from Party Pail who is working with me to create this fun look!
I know I am not an artist by any stretch of the imagination so go ahead and giggle at my attempt, but I am a visual kind of person and I have to see things on paper so I drew out what the buffet table will look like. Since it is 4th of July weekend we decided to do a hot dog bar and serve them with different kinds of toppings! I think it will be soo fun! Behind the tables I will have 2 large chalkboards with the menu written on them.
We are using lots of Gavlanized tin serve ware that I have been collecting to serve all the food from! Besides the hot dogs we are serving watermelon on sticks and chips with lemonade, water and sodas. My cute friend Julia is catering this for me so I don’t have to do this on my own..thank heavens for her!!
I have made 2 of the 12 table runners and I love how they look! Crisp and clean and fun! I have tried to get as many runners our of the width as possible without them looking wimpy. I made these about 14″ wide and 108″ long to fit on 8 ft. round tables.  I all of this stuff set up in my dining room so I could a look as to how it might all come together.
I decided to serve the food in these cute cardboard trays with pretty French looking waxed papers as liners. Oh there is sooo much to do!!
Wait until you see what my daughter…Madeline has been planning for the shower!
So many details will be coming as we go along!
Make sure to check out the bridal shower we did for Emily all in peach, pink, navy and gold…It turned out so beautiful!! We made a super moist and delicious naked banana cake with fresh flowers, and a sweet friend made a puffy pink coffee filter garland !

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!
