Why I love me a Big ole Napkin plus a Napkin tutorial

I love me a big ole napkin…why?
Well for one thing it completely covers my lap while im eating thereby protecting my “cute” outfit from dropped food or spills, they look amazing on the table and make a statement…kind of like a nice big ole pillow does for a sofa!, they are versatile in the way you can fold them or use them on your table and they are washable!
My cute mom made these awesome numbered napkins out of a drop cloth and used transfer paper that you print off on your printer! Here is a great Tutorial
I. Love. Them.
They wash up beautifully everytime! The numbers become softer looking…kind of French linen looking…they are the best!!
These gorgeous Dahlia blooms are from my garden!
These napkins measure 21″ square
I love that because of their size I can use them like a placemat and fold them in thirds with the number showing.
Super cute…even my nephews like setting the table because they get to pick what number they want!
Here is a favorite napkin fold I like to use…The Flower
I have another tutorial here
Start with your napkin laying on the table flat.
Bring up each corner to the center
All 4 corners are folded in
Next carefully flip it over…holding in the folded edges
Once again bring the four corners to the center
All four corners are in the center
At each corner you will pull out a section from underneath to make the flower petal
You have a flower with a center. You could put anything you like in the center..a mini pumpkin, an ornament, a piece of chocolate or perhaps a small wrapped gift.
I chose to place a white cup with a flower for some pizazz!
This is a quick and fun way to set up a buffet….stacking plates, fan out the folded napkins, arrange silverware by alternating the height of the forks and knives and place your cups or goblets to the side.
If this tutorial on folding the napkin like a flower was helpful I would love to know and please share it by pinning, facebook, tweeting or whatever social media you like.

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!
