Welcome to Centerpiece Wednesday!
Gong Xi Fa Cai which means “Congratulations may you be prosperous” is the most common Mandarin Chinese way to say Happy New Year! We celebrated with our family by getting out any and all Chinese decorations we had to create a fun tablescape.
We bought this huge Chinese fan at a Chinese store in Texas a few years back and used it for
This dinner we hosted for our daughters prom dinner. Can you see it on the wall?
We put some little cuties in a glass jar in the center of the table which represent good fortune.
We served edamame, 2 different kinds of satay chicken (recipes will be posted on Friday)
Pot stickers from Costco
Long Life Noodles (recipe will be posted on Friday)
Stir Fried rice with broccoli (recipe will be posted on Friday)
For dessert we had pineapple tart cookies homemade directly from Singapore (a friend of my hubby’s) and another kind of flaky New Years cake from Taiwan!
It was a wonderful evening and we stuffed ourselves!
Can’t wait to see what has been the centerpiece of your week! Please share recipes, DIY posts, tablescapes, mantlescapes whatever you have been working on. We will highlight some of our favorite posts next Tues!

Karins KottageWelcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!

Looks like a festive celebration. Sadly I didn't get a Chinese New Year table set for this year as I was out of town. Thanks for sharing yours.
Hey, girl! You did it up right!!! My goodness....so colorful, and SO much food!!! I have tasted those Costco pot stickers, and I think they rival the taste of those in any good restaurant! VERY tasty! I love the big soaring purple dragon(?) above the chandelier! Have a great weekend!
