Has anybody else had trouble with their glass water dispensers leaking? Drip Drip Drip! I love these water dispensers…they really add that special something to any party but they leak!! I am going to share how I you can fix a leaking glass water dispenser.
I looked all over the internet to find a cure and someone suggested using the rubber seals that you use on a garden hose. TA DA!! It totally works!! Quick easy and cheap! Now I don’t have to throw this glass water dispenser out and go buy a really expensive one.
See those two yellow rubber thingys? Yep that is them. You put one on the inside and one on the outside of where the spigot goes into the glass jar and it causes a perfect seal. The rubber thingys that came with the jar were just not strong enough to handle the pressure of all the water once it was full. I made some delicious herb infused lemonades for a get together and it would have been a disaster if the glass water dispenser had leaked. You just don’t want to have worry about fixing a glass water dispenser during your party. This is the cure!
I love to host parties and it is so frustrating when the water dispenser leaks all over the place. Can you imagine if the water dispenser had leaked at this small wedding reception I held in my backyard? Especially when it was holding pink lemonade! You just don’t want the sticky lemonade mess all over the floor!
I hope this helps anyone else out there that is wanting to fix a leaking glass water dispenser at their next party.

My neighbor gave me Yorkshire glassware tea dispenser for my birthday last July like the one showed and it leaked like crazy so I came across this and got garden hose washers off Ali Express and it solved it. I love Sweet Tea. The washers was 10 pack for 0.50 cents
I knew it would be smart of me to check the good ole internet before taking our decanter set back. Honestly don't know why I bought them, in all my 59 years I have never had one not leak.
But now I am not taking them back, going to try what is actually an obvious fix. just so obvious, nobody thinks about it. LOL!
Question though. How much do you tighten your spigots in? As tight as your hand will allow, do you use pliers? Cheers!
I did not use pliers. I just hand tightened mine. Let me know how it worked for you. It was an easy for mine.
Karin
so cool, it is working. Thank you :)
Wow, what a life saver. I was having the same problem. Thank you for posting.
Mine is actually leaking from the spigot and from the turn lever. I think I need a whole new one. Do you know where I can get one?
Look on Amazon.com for drink dispenser faucet. Just be sure to get the correct diameter faucet to fit the dispenser hole. No one seems to sell just the replacement Food grade washers.
Gosh I don't know where you can get a whole new one 😬... I would search the Internet for water dispenser parts to see if that helps.
Thanks for sharing this tip! I bought a new water dispenser a few days and go and it's leaking! I'm super excited to try this method.
Dorothy I hope it worked for you. Let me know!
Yes...They are standard garden hose washers. You can get them at any home improvement store. Normally come in 10 packs for a couple of bucks.
Do you know the size rubber seals you used.
I can't remember if there were different sizes... But I'm sure I bought the small one because the opening on these jars is pretty small. I bought mine from Lowe's. I hope this helps :)
This TOTALLY worked! Thank you SO MUCH!!!! I have had this dispenser for a year and haven't used it because I couldn't find the correct replacement seals. Now I know and will remember it doesn't always have to be the exact replacement part to work (and work better!)
Yeah!!! I love it!
Yay I bought for jugs and all leak. So going to do this thank you
Karin, That is such an awesome idea. I have been searching the internet for replacement seals and the best i could find were $2.99 each, PLUS $11.00 shipping. I DON'T THINK SO !!!
Gonna use your idea to fix all three of my wife's decanters so I don't have to go buy more, lol....
I hope it works great for you :)
