Our Brother is in the arms of the Savior

Those of you who have followed our blog know that our brother Tim Cummings has been fighting cancer for over a year now.
Last night he slipped away in his sleep and returned to our
Father in Heaven.

My brother was 2 years younger than me but instead he seemed more like an older brother than a little brother…he was always there to comfort me and protect me starting when we were little kids. I remember always being scared of the dark as a little girl and so I would go to his room and get in bed with him because I felt safe when I was with him. We would scratch each others backs and sing songs but ultimately he would fall sound asleep first 🙂 Once at a restaurant when I was around 6 and he was only 4…I didn’t want to go the bathroom by myself…mom said “The bathroom is right there you’ll be fine”…but Tim knew I was scared so he took my hand and said “I take you Kari”. Mom says I always called him “my little tweetheart”. As a teenager I remember breaking up with a boyfriend and being devastated and thinking life was over…Tim just held me in his arms and told me everything would be alright. As a teenager of only 17 years…Tim led our family to the gospel…The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I am forever indebted to him for this. The peace and comfort this brings to me and to our entire family….to know that we are sons and daughters of God and that there is a plan…the plan of Salvation and that we can be an eternal family and live forever together is the best gift anyone could ever give….I have a testimony of these things and through this experience, as hard as it has been, has strengthened my testimony and I feel at peace. My cute brother Tim lived his life to the fullest and experienced many fun and exciting things. He raced Gocarts, road a Harley, road dirt bikes, rock climbed, mountain biked, golfed, started his own business from scratch, invented many games, went to Hawaii many times with his sweeheart, He wanted to act and played scrooge in their local community theatre and brought tears to everyone’s eyes, he wanted to be a magician and trained at the Magic Castle in L.A. and performed, he would set his mind to do something and he would do it. He loved everyone and judged no one, he was tender and kind and yet had a fiesty spirit about him as well. He had the best sense of humor of anyone I have ever known and loved to play practical jokes. He was always creating something and sharing it with everyone. Tim was very giving and loving at all times and was an incredible friend to all who met him. Tim married his sweetheart and Angel… Liz…. almost 25 yeras ago and they have 8 beautiful children (7 boys and 1 girl). They are all so precious to us. We have had some amazing fun times with them…going to Lake Powell, having gigantic holiday celebrations with them, sledding, singing, playing game after game, but most of all laughing and loving one another everyday! I will miss you my sweet brother more than you will know…but I know that we will be together again. Loving you foreverKarin

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!

  • Oh, so sad, I feel really bad that you lost your beloved brother. Your tribute to him has given me goose bumps and really touched me. I lost a brother that was only 51 six years ago, he was one of my big brother's, but I always felt that he was my little brother and that he needed protecting. Funny how things seem, I miss him so much. I am one of 10 children so I know what it is to be blessed with such a large family. Your brothers children are so lucky to have each other and you too!

  • I'm so behind on catching up on blogs, and when I read this today I started crying. Your brother and you ladies have been in my prayers over these last many months. Please know how sorry I am, but it makes me joyful to see the faith that you (and he) shared that will give you so much comfort. You will be with him again, that is something we can all be sure of.

    Much love,
    Liz
