Continuing to Fight Cancer

As most of you know my brother is still battling colon cancer that has metastized and he still has tumors in his body. He has continued chemo treatments for almost one year now (which is about 40 rounds of chemo) and it is starting to take its toll on him. This last round of Chemo has really taken it out of him. His sweet wife told me the day before yesterday that he could only sit up for 10 minutes at the most. Tim says he is very uncomfortable all the time…his feet are numb and tingly and it feels like they are asleep all the time and it feels very weird to walk on. He looks like he has aged 10 years in one year. He continues to have bowel blockages that are excruciating for him…

This was taken one year ago in August after his colostomy and diagnosis of Colon Cancer
This picture was taken in July of this year at his sons wedding. He still continues to have his gigantic smile on! 🙂

It is so hard to watch him go through this trial in his life and yet there are so many sweet blessings from above too. So many amazing, kind people have given their time and their talents and their money to help them in so many ways. People have been to their house on numerous occasions to help clean the house, mow the lawn, watch the youngest children. Recently my brother’s oldest son got married and from many many prayers Tim was healthy enough to travel to California to attend the wedding and attend a reception there in California that was all put on by their friends there. Then come home for a small reception at their own home. So many family and friends came to help with the activities. Family and Friends were there to help scrub floors, redo some grout in the front entry of the house that was cracked and broken, washed dishes, dusted, vaccummed, prepared and donated food for the reception, decorate, clean up the yard, mowed, trimmed and weeded..and more were there to help clean it all up.
I know the Lord knows each one of us and what our needs are and it is through others that he meets those needs.
There are angels all around us…I have met some.
I am once again asking for help for them…. he has not been able to work…. they have little to no money. The kids need school clothes, the mortgage is way behind as well the car payment. We are going to hold another garage sale in Sept.
If any of you know of companies or individuals that would or could help them in any way please send me their information so I can contact them. Or if any of you would like to make a donation you can do it here on my blog through paypal.
Thank you for your prayers on his behalf. That is the one thing that I know can help more than anything else.

Karins Kottage

Welcome to Karins Kottage! There is always something fun going on! You would think after becoming an empty nester couple that our nest would be very quiet and empty but our Kottage nest is usually more full than what we started out with! You might find me hosting a birthday party or graduation party and a baby shower on the same weekend or a big outdoor get together with 25 of our friends and family in the backyard or maybe I might be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for my hubby and I to grill on the BBQ for a quiet night for the two of us. I am passionate about entertaining and setting a beautiful table! I may or may not have an addiction to cloth napkins and fun salad plates oh and goblets too! I think I will always have a home decorating DIY project in the works as long as my hubby is on board with me haha. We have painted A LOT in the 6 homes we have owned in the 35 years that we have been married as well as re-done multiple pieces of furniture, added wall and ceiling treatments, replaced lights, bathroom fixtures and even tiled floors! I have sewn what seems like a million window treatments for our home as well as for family, made slipcovers, and duvets and even a formal dress or two!

  • Karin, I was happy to find you, but so sad to read about your brother. There is so much cancer in this world, it is scary.
I am making a list of Texas bloggers. Please come and visit me. I will keep your brother in my prayers.
