You know when you put on an outfit and instantly feel pulled together, festive, and ready to conquer the day? That’s exactly how I felt in this fun look featuring a few Coldwater Creek favorites paired with some comfy, on-trend wide-leg denim and my beloved red suede Sam Edelman sneakers.
Let’s break it down so you can recreate it for your own winter errands, coffee dates, or Christmas outings!

The Star: An All-Season Jacket with a Removable Lining
This jacket is such a winner for women who love versatility. The color alone is perfect for the holidays—cheery, flattering, and just bright enough to lift your mood in the colder months.
But the real secret?
The removable lining.
I love that I can wear it on a mild fall day without the lining and easily convert it into a warmer coat on chilly December mornings. It layers beautifully without feeling bulky, which is something we over-50 gals truly appreciate. You can see more of my jacket outfits here.

My Favorite Underlayer: The Ribbed Turtleneck
I’m wearing Coldwater Creek’s ribbed turtleneck underneath, and it is such a great basic for winter wardrobes. It has structure without being stiff, and it adds that clean, classic line that balances out the roomier jeans. Honestly, I need this in every color!

Wide-Leg Jeans With Big Cuffs = Instant Style
Let’s talk about these jeans.
Wide-leg denim with a big cuff is such a fun, modern trend—and surprisingly flattering! The cuff draws the eye down, elongating the leg and giving the outfit a relaxed-but-stylish feel. They move beautifully, and they make even a simple everyday outfit look a little more intentional.
This style works for any age, but especially for women over 50 who want comfort and polish. It’s denim that lets you breathe, bend, and move while still looking fashionable.

Those Red Suede Sneakers
These Sam Edelman red suede sneakers might be my favorite part of the whole look. They add a sporty pop of color that ties in so well with the jacket without being too matchy. Plus—they’re unbelievably comfortable. Perfect for a day of Christmas shopping, sightseeing, or just running errands around town.

The Practical Finishing Touch: A Black Leather Crossbody
This black leather crossbody bag (also Coldwater Creek!) has quickly become my everyday go-to. It’s lightweight, hands-free, and just the right size for all the daily essentials. I love having both hands free while I’m shopping, traveling, or juggling grandkids. The leather is soft, the strap is adjustable, and it works with everything.

A Festive, Everyday Outfit for Women Over 50
The best part about this outfit is that it works for any age, but it feels especially right for women over 50 who want comfort, practicality, and a little spark of fun. Whether you’re running errands, heading to lunch with friends, or enjoying the holiday season, this look has all the elements of effortless, joyful style.
I have to agree with Karen. This looks a bit frumpy…the baggy pants with the wide cuff shortens the look of the legs, not elongating it. I think a slimmer pair of ankle jeans with the cute red sneakers will look fun and festive.
Hi Miki, Thank you so much for leaving your comment and sharing your opinion on my outfit. I think the coat is a little bit too big and I could have sized down to a medium …which never happens for me. It is a super nice coat and I really love wearing it. I will have to try it with a slimmer pant to see how it looks. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.
Sorry, but I’m over 50 and would not wear this. Wide leg pants and oversized boxy coat add pounds and are not flattering. Perhaps warm and comfy but not for me, just saying…
Hi Karen, Thanks for being honest and sharing your opinion. Everyone has to decide what works for them. If it’s cold outside I don’t care if my coat is oversized or boxy looking as long as I stay warm and toasty 🙂 Especially when I dress casual. If I am dressed a little more dressy I wear a long black coat that is more form fitting and still keeps me warm. Thanks for stopping by.
