How to create beautiful Valentine Table Decor

Easy Valentine’s day table decor tips

Super easy Valentine table decor tips that answer the questions- How do you set up a Valentine’s day table? What are some good ideas for a Valentine’s day table? How do you make a Valentine Centerpiece? I know this may not look like a typical Valentine’s day table because there is no red or pink in it. I don’t really think it has to have the traditional colors of Valentine’s day to be romantic and pretty.

Today I am so excited to share my beautiful Valentine Table Decor tips with you! I have always loved to set a pretty table for special occasions especially for a romantic dinner. This is one of my favorite Valentine’s day tables.

Easy Valentine table decor tips- Karins Kottage

There is just something about sitting down to a table that has been nicely set. It creates a feeling of anticipation and makes everyone feel special.

Valentine table decor tips
How to make a Valentine's Day centerpiece?

Think about when you go to a nice restaurant and the table is set so elegantly with crisp linens, candles, flatware, flowers and pretty dishes. You just know the food is going to be good!

Now let me show you how I set this elegant Valentine table with my easy table decor tips and tricks.

Easy Valentine flower tips for your table

Valentine table decor tips
Valentine's Day table centerpiece- Karins Kottage

Of course we need to start with flowers! What is a Valentine’s day table without flowers?

This tip is super easy! I bought light pink and white roses from Costco to fill a large wooden bucket.

They did not fill the wooden bucket enough for my liking. I went back to Costco and bought some fluffy white hydrangeas to create a beautiful table.

Roses and hydrangeas in wooden bucket= Karins Kottage

Tip- Fill up the space in your container. To make a big splash on the dining table, create a large floral centerpiece focal point.

Inexpensive fluffy flowers make a big statement without spending a lot of money.

Costco or your local grocery store to the rescue.

You could also fill in with some faux flowers to make it feel fuller.

roses for Valentine's table

Another great tip- If you buy hydrangeas they sometimes wilt after you bring them home.

Cut off 1 inch off the bottoms of the flowers and plunge the entire flower head and stems into a sink filled with cool water. Let soak for 30 min. then put them in vase of water.

They spring back to life in about an hour. They are very thirsty flowers!

Faux garland, fruit and candles for centerpiece

A great idea to create a centerpiece or natural looking table runner is by using a faux garland and running it down the middle of the dinner table to bring in some greenery.

This one is from Nearly Natural and it is faux olive leaves and olives. They look so real! You don’t need hearts or red roses to create a stylish Valentine’s day tablescape.

To add some extra love to the garland I added real fruit! Dark purple grapes, golden pears and some plums add a European French country feel to the table.

pears plums in the centerpiece

This just brings back memories of our recent trips to Italy and France. Just by placing the fruit every so often makes the centerpiece feel more authentic.

Candle tip- Adding in all different sizes of candles sticks and votives really add drama. Votives are so cheap so you can have tons of them on the table. Such simple ideas that are really inexpensive can really make big impact.

Mixing silver candle sticks and brass ones can bring in some glamor to your table you don’t have to match.

Using an artificial olive garland, real fruit and candles to create a centerpiece. Can it get any easier?

Gold Flatware

The warm color and glimmer of gold flatware bring an elegance to it.

Pioneer purple goblets- Karins Kottage

I have had this gold flatware for over 30 years! It is not super fancy by any stretch of the imagination.

Years ago I bought the flatware at….are you ready….Big Lots!!

Who knew! It has held up through years and years of usage and being washed in the dishwasher!

Place setting

These adorable Eiffel tower plates were purchased at a small boutique on a trip to Chicago.

I would love to find more of them as I only have 4. This is the perfect time to use them for this special dinner.

They are so romantic looking don’t you think? Placing a gold charger underneath them makes them really feel special. You might remember my outdoor romantic tablescape that I did last year when I used them?

Or when I created this red black and white tablescape.

Valentine tablescape placesetting- Karins Kottage

For this Valentine tablescape I just put them on the table without chargers. Then I decided to add the gold chargers for a nicer look.

I love how chargers look on the table. You can see them where I used my gold ones here for St. Patrick’s day table and here I used silver chargers for this romantic beachy tablescape.

Cloth Napkins

Valentine table decor tips
Striped linen napkins- Karins Kottage

Are you a cloth napkin lover like me?

I have a fairly large collection of cloth napkins in so many colors and patterns. They bring in color and texture to a table for very little money.

This time I used striped linen napkins from Crown Linens. They can be used wrinkly like I did here or if you want a more formal look you can iron them smooth.

I wanted a casual light look for the table and I love how they look.

Purple goblets for Valentine’s table

These purple pinkish goblets are my all time favorites! I have used them in lots of tablescapes.

They are from Walmart and they come in a few different colors too!

if you want to see an amazing colored glass collection you really need to check out My 100 year old home. Leslie shares some gorgeous pink glassware as well as some other beautiful colors.

I use them for all seasons. I really like the weight and sturdiness of them.

Wooden slab serve ware for Valentine cake

For a fun and unique touch, add a small naked Valentine cake served on a rustic wood platter. This will be the perfect way to end the night on a sweet note.

Valentine table decor tips
Valentine naked cake with berries- Karins Kottage

This reminds me of what a rustic romantic French tablescape might look like. I mean can’t you just picture women in France going out into their vineyard and grabbing whatever they have growing to create a tablescape?

Probably they would have fresh herbs, berries, flowers maybe some grapevines, grapes and some wooden slabs cut from a nearby tree.

Valentine Table decor tips

Of course I did not cut my own wooden slabs haha. I bought mine here. The rustic wooden slab is such a creative and unexpected way to serve my Simple little naked cake. It is sooo good!

The look of a fancy little white cake on a wooden slab just gives me all the feels.

Glowing Valentine table As The Sun Goes Down

I took a few pictures of the table after I lit the candles. It really looks so pretty!

So romantic and inviting with this cream and rose color scheme don’t you agree?

I’ll have to keep looking 😊 That garland is so fun to use throughout the year! I used it during Christmas on my mantle but I think I could use it even in the spring and fall!

Beautiful Karin! You had me at pink roses!! Your flowers are so much and romantic. And, your Paris inspired plates….I don’t think there is a city that is more romantic than Paris! Your table runner is very realistic, and I love how you have embellished it with the fruit too! Your rustic cake perched on the wood is such a nice addition. I will be watching for the recipe!

Karin, your table is cozy and very welcoming. There is something to be said about using a fruit and leaf garland as a runner down the middle of the table. A bit of simplicity but extreme elegance, especially by candle light. I love your cake. Do they refer to it as the “naked” cake? It is not with 3 inches of frosting, so the simplicity is reflected in the cake as well and the taste is as scrumptious as it is beautiful. So tranquil and peaceful. Happy Valentine’s Day.

When I think of romance, I do almost automatically think of Paris, so yes, the Eiffel Tower plates are very romantic! I love your runner with the grapes, and I like how you placed your rustic bucket your floral arrangement at the end of the table. It’s so pretty! Thanks for the tips: They are very helpful and creative.

Karin, your rustic French styling is très chic mon ami! I styled a Paris inspired Valentines table myself several years ago; to celebrate my heritage. It also incorporated Eiffel Tower motif plates, and yours are very special indeed. Maybe you could mix them with four of another ET pattern? Also love those purple goblets — a great alternative to red and pink. You’ve got me inspired to go purple next year! And that cake — ooh la la!

Your table is lovely Karin, and thanks for reminding me about how you can refresh hydrangeas by putting them in a sink of water, that’s such a great tip! Your French plates are so cute and I love the look of your bare wood table, that makes it feel very country French or Italian with the beautiful way you styled the natural runner and pretty candles, very romantic!

Karin, I immediately could see the European influence on this table, from your centerpiece to the entire casual mood with each of the elements. I love the purple glassware against the olive garland and fruits – very rustic. The naked cake is absolutely charming and I am one who could literally survive on bread and water. Add the cheese (that and sneaking a bit of fruit) and I’m in heaven. A lovely table for Valentines, or any time! So glad you joined the party, and I’m looking forward to the cake recipe. Happy Valentine season!

What a pretty table Karin! Thanks for the informative “how to”! Your Eiffel tower plates are lovely and would lend themselves to many tablescapes…and I especially love the olive garland down the center of your table. Perfect to tuck in whatever the decor of the moment is. And who doesn’t just love fresh flowers? My daughter used to work for a florist and your flower tip is a good one. She always told me to cut the bottom of the stem on roses while holding them under cold running water before plunging them into a vase of water and they will last much longer.
It is a pleasure to “hop” with you on this cold Tuesday morning.

Mom had strength beyond my comprehension she was always gardening… moving heavy pots, digging in hard soil and creating an oasis everywhere she lived. Her love of all things French was something to admired. Everyone who ever walked into her home could immediately feel loved and cared for. Mom worked tirelessly in her chocolate company right up until just a few months before she died. Her sacrifices for us were uncountable. I love my mom and all she was and did and especially her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Here’s to all the moms past present and future and to all the sacrifices, teachings and loving us even when we drive them crazy.

Loving and missing my mom! ❤️
