If you’re celebrating Noon Year’s Eve with kids and grandkids, these DIY New Year’s Eve decorations are just the thing. They’re festive, creative, and best of all — they cost almost nothing to make. This year, I wanted our New Year’s table to feel special without spending money, stressing out, or buying things we’ll never use again.
What made this extra fun? The kids and grandkids helped make almost everything. Crafting together is half the celebration around here, and these ideas are simple enough for little hands to join in.

Simple, Budget-Friendly DIY New Year’s Eve decorations
I started with a round black plastic tablecloth, which instantly sets the New Year’s Eve mood. It’s inexpensive, easy to clean up, and makes everything on the table stand out. From there, I layered in a few handmade touches that made the table feel festive and playful — perfect for a Noon Year’s celebration.
DIY Clock Chargers Made from Paper Plates
These clock chargers are so cute and incredibly easy — and kids LOVE helping with them.
How we made them:
- Start with white paper plates
- Use a black marker to draw a clock face
- Begin with 12, 3, 6, and 9, then fill in the rest of the numbers
- Add simple clock hands with black marker
- Draw a silver or gold ring around the inside edge
- Hot glue inexpensive gold fringed garland around the rim

Once finished, I placed a clear plastic plate on top so the clock face shows through. Then I layered the whole thing on top of one of my gold chargers for an extra celebratory look.

This is such a great project for kids — drawing numbers, placing clock hands, and seeing their work become part of the table makes them feel so proud.
DIY Gold Fringe Napkin Rings (So Easy!)
These napkin rings might be the cheapest thing on the table — and they look adorable.
How we made them:
- Cut empty paper towel cardboard tubes into 2-inch rings
- Wrap each ring with gold fringe garland
- Secure with hot glue

I paired them with black and white striped fabric napkins, cinched right through the rings. It’s amazing how something so simple can look so festive. This is another fun, quick project kids can help with — cutting, wrapping, and decorating.

Dollar Store Goblets with Disco Ball Drink Stirrers
For drinks, we used plastic goblets from the dollar store — perfect for kids and adults alike. To make them feel special for New Year’s, we added DIY disco ball drink stirrers.
We used:
- Gold styrofoam disco ball ornaments
- Wooden stir sticks

They instantly made our Martinelli’s sparkling apple cider feel like a real New Year’s Eve toast — even at noon! The kids loved helping assemble these and couldn’t wait to use them.

Simple DIY New Year’s Eve Decoration Centerpiece Using What I Had
For the centerpiece, I grabbed a clear bowl and filled it with things I already owned:
- Black and white porcelain balls
- Mini gold disco ball ornaments
- One large silver disco ball
- One smaller silver disco ball

My granddaughter had so much fun decorating mini silver party hats using black and white stars, gold fringe garland, and little odds and ends from my craft stash. We tucked a few of those hats right into the bowl, which made the centerpiece feel playful and personal.

This was such a sweet way to include the kids and let their creativity shine.

Festive, Kid-Friendly, and Practically Free
These DIY New Year’s Eve decorations prove that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to make a celebration feel special. Everything is easy, hands-on, and perfect for kids and grandkids to help create — which makes the day even more meaningful.

I’ll be sharing more from our Noon Year’s celebration after the New Year so you can pin ideas now and save them for next year.
