How to make Fall Hydrangea Wreath With Pumpkins

Fall hydrangea wreath with pumpkins tutorial

Today is such a beautiful fall day nice and cool perfect for fall crafting.

I decided to get out my crafting supplies and show you how I made my fall hydrangea wreath with pumpkins!

How to make fall hydrangea wreath with pumpkins

I mean what is fall without a pretty fall wreath on the front door?

Am I right?

The colors of fall are so vibrant with oranges, golds, yellows and reds it is the perfect combination for a front door fall wreath.

Wreath making confession

To be honest I have made and remade this fall wreath that has hung on my front door for probably 15 years now!

Yep you can call me the fall recycle wreath queen! haha

I have loved this outdoor fall wreath sooo much.

Below is the first fall re-do of this wreath and I hung it on my black front door in Texas but before that I had this wreath on my front door in St. George, Utah.

All that hot sunshine from living in those two places took a toll on it.

Each year I get it out and I add a little something new or take something off to make it feel fresh and new.

recycled Orange gold and red fall wreath on front door.

How to make fall hydrangea wreath with pumpkins

I began making my new fall hydrangea wreath with pumpkins by using the old wreath that had a fall garland wrapped around on it.

Tip- Start with a fall leaf garland, half the work is already done!

Keeping the fall garland that was faded in a few places on the wreath was perfect because it has multi colored fall leaves, a few faux pumpkins, reddish colored berries and some skinny little branches.

But….

Fall hydrangea wreath make with pumpkins

There was some ratty old foam gourds and acorns covered with leaves but they had started to fall apart.

These old faux items have seen better days! Just look at the poor foam fall decor 🙁

They were so pretty when I first bought them.

old faux gourd

This year I had to take them off 🙁

In fact I took everything off and started over.

Fall hydrangea and pumpkin wreath suppllies

Maybe I can use the old gourds and acorns to make some creepy Halloween decorations to go with this Harry Potter themed tablescape that I am going to recreate for Halloween this year.

Speaking of Halloween, recently I wrote my first book called Bewitching Halloween Entertaining Ideas!

It is an E-book avail on Amazon and loaded with ideas that I have done over the last 35 years!

Priced at only $5.00!

Couldn’t this acorn look like the head of a mandrake from Harry Potter? haha

Adding in dried Hydrangeas and Pumpkins to wreath

After I put the garland back on I needed to spruce it up.

To bring in some freshness to the wreath I added in some new faux pumpkins, dried hydrangea from my yard, some raffia sprigs and yellow pom poms.

Adding hydrangeas and pumpkins to wreath

Even though some of leaves on the old garland have faded it still works for fall!

I had left over yellow pom poms from when I made these darling yarn pumpkins.

They are so fluffy and cute!

Using a little hot glue I tucked the hydrangeas all around the wreath.

How to make a hydrangea pumpkin wreath for fall

Then I hot glued in a few dollar tree mini pumpkins, yellow pom poms and these cute little raffia bundles.

Adding bow to fall wreath

To complete the fall hydrangea pumpkin outdoor wreath I added this simple burlap wired bow.

burlap wired bow for outdoor fall wreath

A little piece of floral wire fitted through the back allows me to attach it easily to the wreath.

Fall decor is really my favorite decor to come up with!

Check out my Halloween porch with witch hats.

I also did some outdoor fall decorations with corn stalks and pumpkin topiaries.

The Finished Wreath hanging on front door

I could not be more pleased with how my fall wreath with pumpkins turned out!

What a beautiful wreath. I love. love, love autumn and all the beautiful warm colours it provides in nature. Never made seasonal wreaths before but you have inspired me as autumn is my favourite time of year (not wishing the summer away but here in the UK, there’s not much summer to begin with hahaha)

      Rebecca,
You should really try to make a fall wreath! They are really fun to do especially for fall. I am holding on to summer as well for just a bit longer but also getting a few fall things lined up to decorate with 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by and letting me know that I have inspired you. That means a lot!

This is beautiful! I just love fall decor. I do three separate fall decorating times in my house. September in brighter oranges with teals, white, and creams (because it’s still 90 degrees on the Gulf Coast lol), Halloween, then November. This wreath will be a good inspiration for when I bust out the fall craft supplies! Thanks for sharing on Traffic Jam Weekend & Happiness is Homemade at https://LIfeasaLEOWife.com!

If you store foam-filled decor items in an area that gets very hot, the foam expands and splits the covering. Why not try decoupaging a single-ply of a pretty fall napkin over the foam forms after removing the old damaged covering?

Teddee! Such a great tip! I didn’t realize the foam expands! I’ve lived in very hot places with that wreath… now I know why! Fun idea of decoupaging over the old pieces.

Thank you so much for stopping by and exposing this to me!

Oh my! Those old faux items had seen better days! I love how you made the little raffia bundles to add to your wreath, how creative! Dried hydrangeas are one of my favorite things in the world, and alas, I have no hydrangeas planted yet in Florida, but they are on my list. Yours look so beautiful and soften the wreath! Happy Fall!

Karin that’s was a wonderful idea to recycle what you already have; and using hydrangeas from your garden is definitively a plus. The combination of colors lends a hint of sophistication and makes a true statement about Fall. Thanks for sharing!

Karin, your wreath refresh is a stunner! I especially like that you used dried hydrangeas from your own yard. Strong sunlight is always an issue for me with wreaths on my front door. So, making periodic changes keeps it interesting.
