Give me a cute, comfortable skirt that I can dress up or down and I am a happy girl! This red tiered maxi skirt is one of those easy pieces that looks pulled together without feeling fussy—and it’s under $30!
I love finding affordable pieces that can be worn multiple ways, and this skirt checks all the boxes. It’s flowy, feminine, comfortable and, best of all, it’s lined!

Why is it so hard to find an inexpensive summer skirt with a lining these days?
The lightweight lining means you don’t have to worry about it being see-through, but the skirt still feels light enough for warmer weather.
And now I’m trying to convince myself that I don’t need it in white, yellow, black AND the cute blue and white print. Ha!
An Easy Tiered Maxi Skirt Outfit for Women Over 50
For this outfit, I paired the bright red skirt with a light blue linen button-down shirt.
Red and light blue are such a pretty combination! The blue softens the bright red and gives the whole outfit a fresh summer look.

And guess where I found the linen shirt?
If you happen to see these linen shirts at your Costco, grab one! Mine came in light blue, but it also comes in white and tan, and I liked it so much that I also bought the tan.
It’s lightweight and has a nice longer length in the back, which gives you lots of styling options.
My Little Front-Tuck Trick
Here’s something I do when wearing a longer blouse with a skirt.
Instead of tucking the entire shirt into the waistband, I lightly tuck just the front and leave a little fabric loose at the sides.

For my shape, completely tucking a blouse in can add more emphasis and bulk around my waist than I want.
Leaving some softness at the sides helps camouflage my thicker middle while the little bit of tuck in front gives me some shape.
It’s not a tight French tuck and it’s definitely not a full tuck.
Think soft, loose and slightly undone.

You can see from the side that I left the back of the linen blouse completely untucked. I love the longer length in the back!
This little styling trick gives me some waist definition from the front without making me feel like everything around my middle is on display.
And comfort always wins in my book!
Adding Fun Blue Jewelry
Of course, I had to add some jewelry.
These fun blue fan-style earrings bring the light blue from the blouse up toward my face, and I layered them with a beautiful silver and blue necklace.

The necklace I’m wearing is from Coldwater Creek and unfortunately it has sold out, but I found another necklace with a similar feel that I think you’ll love.
I love how layered necklaces can take something as simple as a linen shirt and instantly make it feel like an outfit.
Don’t Be Afraid to Add Another Color
I also tried the outfit with this yummy vegan leather yellow bag from Soft Surroundings here.

Red, pale blue AND yellow?
Yep!
I think it works because the rest of the outfit is so simple. The yellow bag adds another little unexpected pop of color and makes the outfit feel playful.
Sometimes we get so worried about everything “matching” that we forget fashion is supposed to be fun.
What Shoes Can You Wear With a Tiered Maxi Skirt?
This is another reason I like this skirt so much—you can change the personality of the whole outfit just by changing your shoes.
Try it with:
- Sandals for an easy summer outfit
- White sneakers for a casual day of shopping or sightseeing
- Cute flats or Mary Janes for a slightly dressier look
- Dressier sandals with a pretty blouse for dinner
I’m wearing blue suede lace-up sandals that I’ve had for a few years. They are one of those pairs of shoes that I keep reaching for because the blue works almost like a neutral in my wardrobe.

My exact sandals aren’t available anymore, but I found these similar blue sandals.
I think you’ll be surprised by how many things you can wear blue shoes with!
How I Would Dress This Red Skirt Up
This outfit is pretty casual, but the same skirt could easily be dressed up.
I’d switch the linen shirt for a simple white or cream blouse, add some pretty jewelry and a dressier sandal or flat.
For fall, I’d love to try it with a denim jacket and flats. You could even add a lightweight sweater as the weather cools down.
That’s why I like having pieces like this in my closet. I don’t want something I can only wear one way.
Yes, I Apparently Have a Thing for Tiered Skirts
This isn’t my first tiered skirt!
Remember my pretty pink floral one?

I shared three different ways to style that flowy floral skirt, and it’s another great example of how versatile this style can be.
See how I styled my pink floral flowy skirt three ways.
There’s just something about a flowy skirt that makes you feel feminine while still being incredibly comfortable.
A Great Affordable Skirt for Women Over 50
I think sometimes women our age shy away from full or tiered skirts because we’re worried they’ll add too much volume.
The trick for me is balancing the fullness of the skirt with the top.
Instead of wearing a long, loose shirt completely untucked, that little front tuck gives the outfit some shape. At the same time, leaving the sides and back loose keeps everything soft and forgiving around my middle.
That’s the sweet spot for me.
And at under $30, I think this skirt is such a fun find.
Now the only problem is deciding whether I need another color.
I’m leaning toward that blue and white print…but the yellow would be awfully cute too!
Which color would you choose?
