How I Used AI to Create My Dream Nancy Meyers Home

Have you ever wished you could magically see what your room would look like before spending hundreds—or even thousands—of dollars on new furniture and decor?

I certainly have!

Lately I’ve been dreaming of giving our family room and breakfast nook a fresh new look inspired by the timeless, comfortable homes you see in Nancy Meyers movies. Remember Somethings Gotta Give? You know the kind… warm, inviting, collected over time, the coastal grandmother or the Hamptons look that is filled with beautiful layers that make everyone want to stay awhile.

The problem?

I didn’t want to start buying furniture only to discover it wasn’t quite what I had imagined.

So I decided to do something different.

I used AI to help me visualize several decorating ideas before making a single purchase.

Honestly… it has been one of the most fun decorating projects I’ve done in years!

Family Room Inspiration

How to create lake cottage look

I have always loved this room and I have changed it a million times! See the transformations here.

It has wonderful natural light, comfortable seating, and it’s where our family gathers almost every day.

But lately I’ve wanted it to feel softer, lighter and more collected.

Instead of replacing everything, I asked AI to help me imagine changes like:

  • a white entertainment center
  • blue and white striped accent chairs
  • layered pillows
  • a lighter rug
  • coastal artwork
  • warmer accessories

What surprised me most…

I realized I didn’t need to completely redesign the room.

Many of the things I already own still work beautifully.

It was really the layering, lighting, artwork and furniture scale that completely changed the feeling.

Breakfast Nook Makeover

This might be my favorite kitchen nook transformation but you can see some of them here.

Our breakfast nook already has good bones.

The white table, shiplap walls and bamboo shades all fit the style I love.

But seeing different possibilities helped me imagine the room in an entirely new way.

Some of my favorite ideas include:

  • floating white shelves
  • simple white dishes and platters
  • one blue and white ginger jar
  • brass sconces
  • black curtain rods
  • woven pendant lighting
  • black and white checked chair cushions
  • natural wood table option
  • simple greenery

Which one would you choose?

This is honestly where I need your help.

I’m still deciding which direction to take!

Would you choose:

Option One

White table with checked cushions and built in shelving

Option Two

Natural wood table with white chairs

Option One Family Room

Option Two Family Room

Removing the white club chairs and adding blue and white striped chairs

What I Learned

This project reminded me that decorating doesn’t have to happen all at once.

Sometimes the biggest transformation comes from simply seeing your home with fresh eyes.

Using AI allowed me to experiment with dozens of ideas without spending a penny, and it gave me the confidence to start planning updates one project at a time.

Now I know exactly what pieces I want to save for—and which ones I don’t need after all. Let me know which rooms you like the best by leaving me a comment below.
