Sunshine, Family, and the Spectacular St. George Parade of Homes

A quick Trip to St. George Utah- Sunshine, family and the spectacular St. George Parade of Homes. Are you familiar with St. George Utah yet? It is in southern Utah about 2 hours north of Las Vegas and about 4 hours away from Salt Lake City. We took a short little jaunt to visit my step dad, a nephew and his family and some friends. We attended the Parade of homes all while the weather was beautiful, sunny and warm. A nice welcome for us since it is still winter in Salt Lake.

Checking In on an Aging Loved One

Our visit was prompted by a concern close to the heart: my dear stepdad recently had a fall. Witnessing our parents age can be a heartfelt journey, filled with both tender moments and challenges. Thankfully, he seems to be holding up well, surrounded by a stream of visitors.

Yet, I can’t help but worry about his moments of loneliness since my mom’s passing in June. Still, his humor shines through as he jokes about his “visitor-packed” schedule, claiming naps are a rare luxury these days.

St. George Parade of Homes

Twenty years ago we lived in St. George and would always be excited to go to the parade of homes. Every year in February the builders in the area showcase some of their spectacular homes for the public to come and peruse.

St. George parade of homes

These builders go all out and above and beyond in these homes. We hadn’t been in quite a few years and were blown away with how over the top they were and the price of these desert mansions!

Sheesh 8 million dollar homes, 3 and 4 million dollar homes that only the rich and famous could possibly afford.

How big do you want St. George parade of homes to be?

For us we just could not wrap our heads around some of them. 12,000 sq. foot homes with as many as 20 rooms, 6 and 7 seven car garages all sitting on very large lots that had to be at least an acre or more. You get more info from this website and download the app to see all the homes in the parade here. Some of the photos in this post are from their website.

Kitchens and Pantry’s

The kitchens and pantry’s were so big and loaded with luxury features like marble everywhere, gorgeous hardware, top of the line ovens.

Sunshine, Family, and the Spectacular St. George Parade of Homes

When I say ovens I mean 6 between the kitchen and butlers pantry alone.

Not to mention the microwaves in many of the family or game rooms and bbq’s and pizza ovens out in the backyard.

Sunshine, Family, and the Spectacular St. George Parade of Homes

Who needs that many ovens?

I don’t know. It was crazy to me.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms Galaore

Most of the homes we saw had 6-8 bedrooms and some a few more. All of the bedrooms in these homes were huge and many had their own bathrooms. And when I say these bedrooms had their own bathrooms I mean they were all top luxury bathrooms.

The master bathrooms were so over the top! They are so big they need their own ZIP codes. Gigantic glass shower rooms with multiple high tech shower heads, a sauna and a steam room, two separate toilet rooms. I guess his and hers?

Sunshine, Family, and the Spectacular St. George Parade of Homes

Exquisite tile top to bottom, bathroom fixtures that look like they belong in the fanciest 7 star hotels! It was crazy!

One master bedroom or should I say primary bedroom had its own family room attached that was complete with its own kitchenette and huge windows with a views to the mountains.

Closets fit for Cleopatra

There was one closet what was as large as a store and looked like it belonged in Rodeo Drive! I mean seriously!! I just can’t imagine living like that. Most of the closets were as large as a small apartment in New York City!

Indoor sports facilities

Of course if you have house this large with all the upscale treatments you must also have a full indoor fitness club that includes- indoor pickle ball courts, basketball courts, indoor climbing walls and a full workout gym that put Planet Fitness to shame! St. George parade of homes is like stepping into another world.

Sunshine, Family, and the Spectacular St. George Parade of Homes

I am not kidding!

Oh and by the way this does not include the game room that had pool table, ping pong, shuffleboard and of course video gaming consoles or the state of the art theatre room.

One particular home had a built in English pub in their theatre room.

Outdoor resort like accommodations

Every home had spectacular pools with fountains, slides and one had a lazy river. Some had fire features built in or around the pools. Surrounding the pools were expansive patio areas that would rival any luxury resort. Then let’s talk about the outdoor bbq centers.

Sunshine, Family, and the Spectacular St. George Parade of Homes

Very spacious, with built in BBQ’s, pizza Ovens, refrigerators etc. Beyond the pool and patio area you would find community Rec center level sports facility.

Some had pickle ball courts, soccer fields, full court basketball set up, in ground trampoline basketball apperatus and one even had a pole vault and high jump equipment. Trust me you can’t make this stuff up!

Garages that F1 racing teams would be jealous of

All of them had epoxy floors you could eat off of, Not that you would because, it’s still a garage.. Space for not just cars, but boats, RVs, and probably even a small submarine. One even had its own “man cave” in the garage—because where else would you watch the big game while tinkering with your vintage car collection?

Final Thoughts: A Glimpse into Another World

I could go on an on describing all of the things about these houses. It might seem like my post is a bit critical of these types of homes. It’s just hard for me to wrap my head around the need for all of this, But hey, if you’ve got the cash and the urge to live like a Kardashian, more power to you.

As for me and the hubby, we’ll stick to our cozy Kottage by the lake, where the biggest extravagance is debating who forgot to take out the trash.

Oh I just LOVE this post; I often feel the same way when touring (or even hearing about!) home like this. I mean I love to go through them and see all the details but honestly I’d much prefer something small and cozy and simple.

Wow Karin, they do look like resorts! How would families ever find each other in these massive homes 😂 You certainly would never need to go anywhere, wow!!!
