How to Create a Brown & Tan Poolside Tablescape For Two

I wanted to create a romantic lovely tablescape for two poolside using these brown and tan striped napkins. This tablescape created years ago when we lived in Texas. It was a dream come true to have a pool in the backyard and I miss having one. Even if you don’t have a pool in your backyard you can still create a romantic table for two using my tips and tricks.

How to Create a Brown & Tan Poolside Tablescape For Two

Setting the Stage

First things first, let’s set the scene. Find yourself a sturdy table or surface that can hold two place settings. Make sure to set it up so you can soak in the serenity of the poolside oasis or garden. I used a wicker footstool for my little romantic dinner for two. We just sat on the patio no chairs needed.

The Foundation For Poolside Tablescape for Two

Now, let’s talk layers. First I laid down earthy brown placemats that ground the entire setting in rustic elegance. They’re the perfect canvas for what’s to come.

Plate Pretty

For our plates, we’re keeping it classic with crisp white dinner plates, topped with tan salad plates. It’s a subtle contrast that’s simply delightful.

How to Create a Brown & Tan Poolside Tablescape For Two

When I first was putting this tablescape together I didn’t have any salad plates that would work with this color combination so I went to the thrift store and what to my wondering eyes should appear but 4 four brand new taupe/tan colored salad plates!! $3.99 for 4!

Brown and Tan Striped Napkins

Ah, the napkins! Picture perfect in brown and tan stripes, adding just the right amount of pattern and texture. I bought these napkins at Crate and Barrel outlet in Texas years ago. Here is a similar striped napkin from Pottery Barn.

Folding the napkin into thirds and then in half created a rectangle shape. Cinching them in the middle by sliding a cute white pip berry napkin ring to the middle creates a pretty look.

Glassware Glamour

Raise a glass to simplicity with clear glass goblets that let your beverages shine. Their transparency adds an air of elegance to the table, don’t you think?

Candlelit Charm

As the sun dips below the horizon, let the magic of candlelight take center stage. Dot the table with a couple of black metal votive candle holders, each one casting a soft, flickering glow that dances on the water’s surface.

Create brown and tan tablescape for four

Using the same theme of white dishes, brown and tan striped napkins and brown woven placemats I set the outdoor table for four!

For the centerpiece I placed a white metal lantern and filled the bottom with sea shells. Plus I added a few more black metal votive candle holders. Easy and elegant!

In Conclusion

With a little creativity and a lot of love, you can create a poolside or garden affair to remember. So gather your nearest and dearest, pour a glass of something sparkling, and let the good times roll. Here’s to summer soirées and making memories that last a lifetime!

So soothing .. the muted taupes and browns with the bright white. Very lovely. I also like the flowers of the napkin rings against the graphic stripes — very appealing contrast. Great tablescape!

Love the color…I am always looking for great ideas for my lake house, which is my beach house since I moved to central Texas. I have four tables to set there and like to do each one different. Thanks for sharing.

A very lovely "beachy" tablescape! I love it!
The taupe colors and the brown remind me of a sandy beach and striped umbrellas and really make the white pop!
I have those same black candle holders…from the Dollar Tree! LOL!
